Hi everyone!

I am starting to worry here. I sent off my package to VSC on 06/21, it was received on 06/23 amd they cahsed our check on 06/23. We haven't received anything so far. No NOA, no bio appointment letter :crying: . I saw other people got theirs pretty fast, within a week or two from sending the application.

Is it time to start worrying or just sit tight and pray a little harder?

Thank you.

It may take them a while to send you your NOA1, so be patient. In the mean time, you can try to pull up the status of your petition online by using the receipt number printed on the back of your cashed check.

If you don't receive your NOA1 within 4-6 weeks, make sure to give them a call and ask them about it.

The receipt number on the cashed check corresponds to the receipt number on the NOA1. Its an internal number (distinguished by the 0 at the beginning of the last block of numbers), and does not appear on the online status system.

You can't check online status until you receive the biometrics appointment letter which has a number that can be checked in the online status system.

To the OP, if they've cashed your check, that pretty much means NOA1. I'd be more concerned about your mailing address being correct etc. Give it another couple of days, it was a long weekend and all.

Thanks a lot for your answers, guys. I had to talk to someone who's in the same boat as me and understands what I'm going through. Your input is highly appreciated. Our address hasn't changed since we did the adjustment of status, so I don't see any reason why they would have got it wrong. But then again, you never know.

I guess I'll just wait another week and if nothing happens, I'll call them.

My greencard expires in September and we were planning a trip to Europe in August. Maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here, but if I don't get the NOA, how soon can I make Infopass and request a stamp?

First, you are probably running into a little delay because of the time of year. Remember, USCIS employees get vacations too, so it is logical that some things will slow down even more than usual. You should probably get something this week.

That letter will have your extension authorization on it. You can take that letter to your local USCIS office to get the stamp in your passport. It is not likely your new green card will be issued before your trip so get this done soon. Make sure to use the Infopass option.

Be patient, it's probably on its way now.

I never received an extension letter, but I did get a biometrics appointment notice and went to biometrics already; how can I travel...Do I need to make an infopass appointment to get a stamp and do I have enough paperwork to get this stamp?

Yes, you do need some sort of proof if you plan on travelling out of the country. Normally, you would use the expired greencard and the NOA extension letter to return to the US. If you didn't get the extension letter and your greencard is about to expire or has expired, then you can make an INFOPASS appointment at http://www.uscis.gov. Select the 'schedule an appointment' option from the right hand column, and either the option of ' other information' or 'did not receive greencard'. When you go to your appointment bring your expired greencard, your unexpired passport - and if you wish your biometrics letter. They will look up your file using your A# which is on your greencard and should give you the I-551 stamp in your passport. If you plan to be outside of the country when your greencard expires, make especially sure that you get the stamp in your passport before you leave.

Getting the stamp has been the easiest part of this whole immigration process for me to date. I, too, never received an NOA extension letter.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Quick question, Kathryn41. Can you please tell me how long after you filed did you receive the bio appointment letter? I'm starting to think this might happen to me too (no NOA), so it would be mentally easier to just set myself a later date for expecting the bio letter.

Thanks a bunch.
