Notarized copies that means you can notarized them at a notery public office and they are not official government agncies ,but a certified copy you only can get them certified at the appropriate government offices

It's possible the terminology may change depending on location, but:

Original = The document that contains the original signatures in ink. Sometimes, these are not even available as they are archived with the apropriate authority and only certified copies can be issued. These are not required, and I would actually not recommend these as some of the older documents tend to look "unofficial" and may not bear the official seal of the issuing authority. You may even be asked for a more recent certified copy (see below).

Certified Copy = These are the document issued by the designated authority in your location. They have many names but are commonly referred to as Civil registry, Dept. of Vital Statistics, County Clerk Recorder, etc. It all depends where you live and what certificate you are looking to obtain a copy of. These documents are often times called "Originals", but in reality they are certified copies.

Notarized Copy = When a public notary certifies that a copy (often times a photocopy) is an exact replica of a document. Where I live, they only do this for private documents, and not birth/marriage certificates. In other countries, public notaries are allowed to notarize a replica of a public document...but these will not be accepted by NVC.

Hope that helps, if easily available go with the certified copies as you can always get more. If you submit an original, make sure your cover letter states you would like the originals back. There is no guarantee you will get them back though.

Sorry I did mean the Certify the documents. All the documents my husband has to send in are all certified by the ministry of foreign affairs. I apologize for confusing you. You can pay online using the IIN#or invoice# that the NVC gives you when you request it. Then you go online to https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx and logon. You will need to provide your bank routing # and account # and verify your address. Then it will say "IN PROCESS" for the next couple of days and then it will show as "PAID" once it is out of your account. Hope that helps.
