Embassy operator mentioned document varification when I called to get status of visa. She said 1-2 weeks (10 days ago they said 1 week to 10 days). Now I know things dont move fast in India (and neither does US government) but can anybody say how long it took to varify documents in India (any body who has been through AP for document varification or has knowlege of timeframe).

thanks

My husband had AP for document verification in Pakistan, it took six months once Pakistan received the document. It definitely varies, depending on where in the country the must "go" to verify the document.

In my husband's case it was FAR away from the embassy, and as I understand it, this is what caused it to take so long. Hopefully yours will only take the two weeks they stated, since there is no "third" party involved.

From the time I submitted the document to the embassy, it took ONE MONTH just for Montreal to transfer the document to Islamabad. . .and they sent it off to the mountains, I guess, to verify. . .good luck for a speedy "verification"!

Seems like every country has administrative processing but of a different style. India is full of document verifications, middle east is known for home visits, and bangladesh is known for giving APs several times because checks expire. It will be 11 months in 4 days that my husband has been in AP. He was given 221g in Sep. 07, then called to submit passport in Jan 08, called again in March 08 and was given back his passport and another 221g, then in July 08, he was called back to submit his passport and told to come back August 08.

It is a limbo, I will tell you that much.

The best thing to do is not call DOS that much and to submit the papers the embassy wants. One thing is certain, as soon as the processing is done, they issue visas soon after. They don't hold them.

I am praying for all you and myself. Hoping to have that wonderful day when my husband calls and says he got the visa.

AP: Over 1 year.

Visa: Nov 2

US Entry: Nov 13, Alhamdulillah.
