IMBRA Question

Hello Everyone,

I'm a bit confused about this new IMBRA law.

Does this new law only effect (men) as the petitioner of a foreign bride, as in extensive brackgound checks, or does this also apply to women petitioners as well?

Was just wondering due to the fact that I'm a woman applying for a foreign man fiance, he lives in Nigeria.

( I have not submitted my fiance petiton as of yet)

Please if anyone can enlighten me I will be so greatful.

You're not the only one confused, it seems the Embassies are also confused as some of the VJ members have had petitions returned who have not met in the circumstances outlined, got ehir NOA1 BEFORE the date of march 6th (which seems to be the date the act came into effect),or are women petitioners.

The law is not gender specific and has to be seen to be equal therefore it has to be applied to both men and women.
