what happens when your extension expires after waiting the year that you are gratnted after filing and receiving noa1? do you get another extension again after the year has been met? or are you left with no status?

the reason why i ask is because my wifes case was also transferred to vsc from texas.

Yes, if your NOA is expiring you just need to make an INFOPASS appointment at your local USCIS office to get an 1-551 temporary stamp. Bring in the expired greencard, the expiring NOA, and an unexpired passport, or 2 passport sized photographs if you don't have an unexpired passport plus the passport even if it is expired, and they will either stamp the passport with the I-551 stamp or stamp an I-94 with the extension date, and I believe put that in the expired passport (someone can correct me if I am wrong about that last bit). You can make the INFOPASS from the 'schedule an appointment' link on the far right hand side of the main USCIS webpage http://www.uscis.gov . If your wife's passport is expired you may have time to renew it depending on her home country since your NOA should be valid until December which is 5 months away still.

VSC seem to be working on a 13 to 14 month schedule for those who originally filed in Texas in 2007 and were transferred to VSC - so I would expect you to have a decision probably not until December or a bit later. There seems to be the one or two month overlap between when the NOA expires and the 10 year green card is approved.

Good luck on the I-751 approval.
