My fiance and I have started our K-1 process, our I-129f is received and pending as of may 15t 2008, I am just wondering if there is anything i should be doing while we are waiting for that to get approved, what should i be getting together, are there forms or vacinations or documents that i need to be sending away for that take some time to get that i should start now so that it doesn't slow things down later? I would really appreciate some help.

Long form birth certificate is needed as well as short form.

Police report...but its only good for year so plan wisely.

Make sure you have your vaccination history and make sure its up to date.

I am sure others will add on as needed.

Donne moi une poptart!

the short form would be the one that everyone has just like a little card right? and then the long form i will have to send away for, i wasn't sure how long the police check was good for, good to know its a year i was thinking 3 months lol do you know how long it takes to get a police check is it pretty fast?

Only the long form birth certificate is accepted as the small ones usually don't have parents names on it.

I went to my local RCMP in Alberta for my police certificate. I did have a problem with them understanding the difference between a criminal records check and a police certificate. I finally found someone who worked there who knew what I was talking about and mine only took a few minutes. Some people do have to wait for them- it depends where you go I guess. If there is any previous criminal history- you will need a fingerprint check and that can take several months for the results.

Any previous divorce certificates- if either of you were married before. The Vancouver consulate also wants previous marriage certificates- I'm not sure if your consulate will be Montreal or Vancouver. I had to order one from the registry office.

Start looking into tracking down your immunization records- they no longer had my records so I went for a Titres test. They draw blood and check what you are immune to. I ended up showing low immunity to a few things and had all my shots redone. With my Alberta heath care- It didn't cost anything.

I suggest visiting your embassy's webpage and see if they have Packet 3 available for download. That way you will know what is needed and can start collecting all necessary papers.

Don't say that - the Canada forum is as awesome as a double-double.

There's some folks in here who have done the K-1 process.- PM some of them!!!
