New U.S. Embassy Buildings Underway in Manila [CLICK HERE]

July 1, 2008

Present at the ceremony with US Ambassador Kristie Anne Kenney were developer Jaime I. Ayala and Jay Hicks of the US State Department officiating. Foreign Affairs Acting Secretary Francisco L. Benedicto and Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim also delivered messages.

The embassy announced that construction is expected to run through 2012 for a new consular public service building. Including more windows for passport applications. The windows include those for the processing and delivery of services to American and Filipinos who qualify for benefits from the Veterans' Administration and Social Security.

The US$119 million project was awarded to the Ayala-owned Makati Development Corporation.

Traffic in the vicinity of the embassy and the seafront will be slowed down by the construction, but in her remarks, Kenney asked the public to be patient.

Perhaps they will update the help received from the Call Center as well as the service from Delbros. Wouldn't take much to improve them!

 Different building... Same sh!t... Go figure... One would presume that someone would catch a clue. On some level, this has to be frustrating for the facilitators of the visa process. Well, maybe not, when you think of how the government facilities operate there. The visa stage actually only operates a tad better. Phil-Am families maybe dealing with this nonsense for many years to come. Let's hope not, but it sure looks like it to me.

Yeah I agree, get rid of delbros and maybe just annex NSO next to the embassy; so all they have to do is walk to the next building for doc verification...hehehe!! wishful thinking only.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

I still don't get it anyway. NSO has to verify documents that were originally issued by NSO????? #######!!!! Then they have to use an inept courier service to send the documents from USEM to NSO and then back???? I still want to know who owed who a big favor, because this part of the process is just.............STUPID!!!!!!

I wish they would move the Embassy out of Manila.

Davao would be perfect.

For visitors whom only go to Manila, it gives a poor image of the Philippines.

Yeah, it's such BS. My fiancee went to the NSO to get a CENOMAR, she brought it, and the ####### still requested a CENOMAR from the NSO! During the course of this, my fiancee's NBI Clearance expired, but she'd already went ahead and renewed it. They called her on June 30 to submit a new NBI Clearance, since she already had it renewed after the expiration, she submitted it the same day, June 30. I called Friday morning (Pinoy time) and the woman said it seemed odd that she was able to submit it the same day. I said, yeah, she already had it renewed so she went in immediately because we want to be together ASAP.

There just are no words to express how fruitless this stuff is.
