Tax return for Kiev interview

Hello All!!!

We have out interview date! August 7! I am prpearing my I-134 for the interview and need to know about the tax return. Do I need to get something from the IRS, a copy of my return filed with them, or is a copy printed from the e-file service I used good enough? Doe it have to be notorized or any other fancy thing?

For th e I-134 I am bringing the support form, my recent check stubs showing income "year to date", letter from employer and last years tax return. Is this enough? Do I need a bank statement also? If so, must I get a special letter from the bank, or are copies of my monthly statements enough, or do I need it at all?

My 2007 tax return shows an income barely over the amount needed (I was self employed nearly all of that year and "wrote off " most of the income) but it DOES exceed the guideline, but not by much. My current income is documented WAY over the necessary amount. Good enough? I am using the "family of four" guideline even though one of her sons will not be coming right away and will not get his K-2 visa at this time. Will they say we are a family of 4 or a family of 3? He is listed on the K-1 visa as planning to "follow" her here at a later time. I am covered either way, but just wondered.

Thanks

Gary

It's best to have a tax transcript. Some embassies won't even accept e-file copies. My son's transcript came about a week after he requested it via the automated phone line.

For the other questions you might want to contact the embassy or the Dept of State Visa info line (it's not the same as the NVC). They gave what I thought was good advice on some of our I-134 questions. The gentleman told me my son needed to write a letter and have it notarized explaining his situation (he did not file for 2007, as he was a student), but has good income now.

I think there should be a separate forum on the I-134, as it is a concern for many on here.

Kiev embassy accepts tax returns... The I-134 is notarized but nothing else from the USC requires a notary. Asset information not required unless youneed it to suplement income shortfall..

You are a family of three.... until such time as the K-2 comes then another I-134 and a family of 4 later...

FWIW, the embassy says the I-134 is optional... but the underlying supporting documents are not...

Thank you very much FWAguy.

You have been very good at answering questions and I appreciate it. I hope to be able to do the same for other members.

If you are self employed it is a good idea to bring along copies of your bank statements showing deposits which can satisfy your income. I had to supply two years of bank statements to show that I indeed had enough deposits to satisfy my gross income from my business. I've been self employed for 28 years but still needed to show them. Otherwise, tax returns are fine.

Thank you happy guy:

Yes, I have a tax return (2007), bank statements for the last year and an employment letter verifying salary and check stubs for "year to date" income. I was self employed until last Ausgust and my tax return for last year has enough income to qulaify and for this year it is no problem at all. I had wondered if I needed IRS transcripts or if a copy from my files was OK, I think everyone has advised that for Kiev at least, copies are OK.

Thanks

Gary
