we have our nao1 in hand, just trying to get a jump on prepping for the interview.

i found out about the reciprocity link (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3626.html#docs) to find out about police certificates. for mongolia, under "police records" it simply says "Unavailable". does that mean that we don't need to (i.e. can't) get the certs for my fiancee and bring them to the interview? so we're off the hook?

any other experiences with not being able to get certs, and the interview going fine?

in other words - do i have to be worried about anything here, anticipate any potential probs or when we get to the interview they'll say - 'where is it?'

just trying to make sure. :)))

many thanks!

I believe that means for non-Mongolians. We had to look up the same website because my Salvadorn fiance spent a lot of time in Europe, so we were looking into getting the police certificates for the period of time he was over there. But that may not mean a Mongolian person can't get one from his/her own country. Can she/he contact the police there directly and ask about having a clearance done? If you are still very confused, I would suggest emailing the US embassy in Mongolia, and ask them about it, because they will definately know what is required and what is available. Then you can bring the email with you to the interview as proof of what was requested. That's what we did. Just some suggestions. Good luck!

ahhh... thanks, that makes sense. i had hoped we go off easy... :)

i'll check w/ my fiancee and see what she can find out in mongolia - and yes, we'll definitely check w/ the embassy.

again, thanks!

My wife just received her K3 visa in Mongolia back in April, 08. She had to get police clearance from the local police in Ulaanbaatar. We actually went to the embassy and they instructed us to do this.
