Congrats on the approvals!!

Question about this:

If asked I was just going to say I was visiting friends & family.

My take on it is - Don't lie at POE but don't offer information they don't ask for.

People say that often on here, but.. isn't it a lie to say your purpose is 'to visit friends and family' when you're there to visit a fiance, and also have a fiance visa pending? I mean it might not be a good idea to mention the visa part, but when you have several stamps at that airport and say it's because you're "visiting friends and family", it seems like a straight out lie to me..

Glass half full or half empty?

There have been a few posts from people who have said at POE 'i'm visiting my fiancee' and they get turned back. This has even been with proof of ties to home country, employment letter etc

In fact when i visit i will be visiting family & friends so it's not an out & out lie.

Is your fiance's parents not going to be your family? and his friends your friends?

I guess you say whatever makes you comfortable, but sure as hell i'm not going to say anyhting that will give POE a perfect opportunity to turn me away.

After 8 visits, half empty. :P

I've always said boyfriend and fiance, hence why I'm anxious to suddenly change that to "friends and family".. I don't know what they have on file, or if they'll take that as lying if they probe further.. technically though yes, they are my family and friends (or soon to be)..

It's difficult to know what to say for the best when all you want is to get through POE unscathed! The one & only time i mentioned boyfriend i was given a really hard time so since then i've just said family & friends.

Do they put on file who you say you're visiting? On 2 occassions i've not even been asked who i'm visiting just want to see my return ticket.

You're over in about 3weeks aren't you? Hope whatever you decide to say gets you in without any drama.

I don't think it's an outright lie. It isn't giving all the information but my objective is to get my fiance here for a week. I definitely don't want him to lie but if avoiding the word "fiance" will get him into the coutry for a short vacation then I guess that's not being completely honest. My advice to my fiance was to answer the questions truthfully but to avoid the word fiance. I think he's said girlfriend before without any problems. I've definitely said boyfriend to French customs although most of the time they just looked at my passport and stamped it without any questions...

Eh, hopefully this will all be a non-issue on Saturday and I can give some good advice on how to "get through the POE unscathed" as Rob&Dawn put it.

Congrats on all the recent approvals. I hope everyone has prepared (or are currently preparing) for the interview stage and informing themselves about the AOS paperwork.

My folks offered tonight to fly Andy and I to Texas to get married so they can attend as well as my sis and brother-in-law (since our earlier hopes of a Vegas wedding we realize now we can't afford). I'm really touched by their offer and it makes me feel a lot better. Not sure how we'll pull it off yet, but I'm guessing Andy will be happy to here this news when he gets up in a few hours.

I also finally finished my internship requirements and gave my notice, and heard good things from my prof (basically that she didn't want to send anyone over there from the art/design department again). It really made my day that she thought the situation I dealt with was as screwed up as I think.

Still waiting on NOA2... I thought I'd be among the first. I hope it comes soon.

Cham, I hope you feel better really soon. Have you considered taking megadoses of vitamin C until you're better? My ex-husband was told to do that often (1000mg), and it seemed to help.

Cheers and a hug5.gif to all of you still with me in the waiting room!

It is hard, I agree. I am seeing people with noa1's after ours getting approval and still we wait. It's hard to be patient and calm under the circumstances, we've sent our petitions off into some large black hole and there isn't any way to find out where they are in the process. The process is so completely non-transparent and so totally out of our hands.

The person my fiancee spoke to yesterday at USCIS in Vermont said they are aware the website isn't working right, and no they can't say when, if at all, it will be up and running.

It's a bit ironic I think, that Walmart can track a pallet in a particular shipment down to it's exact location, that even USPS can tell me down to the time where my package is on the planet, but the Government can't tell me squat. Other than that they are working on March 2008. Nonsense. Utter nonsense.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Congrats!!!

I have a quick question about addresses. I'm a college student, so I put my home address instead of my college one for all of the I-129F forms. Sebastian has lived in London for about a year and a half, but still has all of his mail sent to his parents' home too. He listed his parents' house as his address on the I-129F because at the time of filing, he wasn't sure how long he'd be staying there.

I'm now gathering proof of an ongoing relationship. I have letters and packages that he's sent me, but all of them list different addresses for both of us than the ones we filed with. He sent the packages from London to my college. I'm wondering if it makes more sense to just omit the physical letters and packages to avoid confusion (we still have phone records, emails, I bought a plane ticket to visit him next month, etc.) or if I should just include a letter explaining the discrepancies.

Any thoughts?
