Yes, the petition approval is for 4 months, allowing time for the NVC and consulate processing. Once the visa has been applied for and issued, it is valid for 6 months. Once it is used, you have 90 days to get married.

Congrats! After seeing that the USCIS doesn't update the website I have been very careful about just throwing away the junk mail coupon fliers and stuff in my mail. I search through it page by page. Receiving it and throwing it away by accident would truly suck. :bonk:

I have really have some dilemmas. First it is very difficult , as it is for all, to keep my fiance upbeat. She is really having struggles understanding the system and obviously doesn't want to spend another day alone. Our relationship has been 2 1/2 years and in hindsight I should have moved quicker. I understand our redtape processes as I have lived in the states my whole life. I think with the holidays approaching in a month and a half it is that much more difficult. The other issue is my business, I am in the title industry and we all know about the mortgage crisis. I worry every 2 weeks if I can make payroll or not. I obviously have had a stable check for 5 years and my 3 years worth of sweet IRS returns. But I am hoping I can hold out until she gets an interview date so I can send my financial package. It would be horrible to go through this and at the last moment not be able to show the income to support. Everyday it makes me sick to feel this pressure. Our job market is not very stable, that was an understatement. So immediately finding work in the 11th hour could be difficult. Has anyone thought of what happens if in the final days they can't show the income? Man, my stomach is in knots. :clock:

I would do the supporting paperwork right now. There are no firm requirements on how recent it should be except that it should be 'relatively up-to-date' or whatever vague description they use to refer to it. As I posted earlier in this thread, back in August I e-mailed consulate in Moscow on whether it would be OK for me to do the paperwork right then if the interview took place in, say, November or December (wishful thinking on my part) and they said yes. By the same token, if you do yours now it should be fine for the interview in January/February. Or you could e-mail consulate and ask them directly. From what I understood your most recent tax return is the most important document anyway although it doesn't hurt to have everything else. Finally, even if you are not currently working, you could still get by on assets alone, although I'm not sure how much you are supposed to have. Good luck!
