As far as i know the embassy here in NZ does the domestic police check for us. But i did spend more than a year in Australia many years ago. So i asked the US embassy here how long an Australian police check is valid for and they said a year. I also asked them if fingerprints were neccesary and they said yes. So I decided to get it done now and have an appointment next week at the police station in the city here to get fingerprints done. Then i will send them off with the appropiate forms (downloaded from the Australian Federal Police site) to Australia for a police check. To get the police check done in Australia costs $105 (Australian dollars). That's if you include your own fingerprints.

Oh gosh all we need to buckle it down..I have SO much to do!!

I've been holding off on the police report until I get NOA2, since it's validity varies so much. The turnaround for a report seems pretty quick for Germany, so I'd rather wait on that so we won't have to order it twice.

As for other paperwork, I'm hoping I get my tax transcripts this week. I want to send a copy of all of the sponsor stuff I fill out to my folks so they know exactly how to fill it out. It can be overwhelming without examples like we have on VJ, and I don't want any mistakes either!

But this thread made me realize that Andy never heard back about his military records. I have to remind him about that -- he requested those weeks ago! Yikes!

Ok, thanks for the info! i'll tell my SO to get on it. is it just showing where he has lived and any possible criminal record? not sure what its for, but if it takes 5-6 month to receive it, we'll get on it!

I believe he'll only need them for the countries he's lived in since he was 16. I don't think it takes 5-6 months, but I'm being paranoid and I want my fiance to have it ready to go when the NOA2 arrives. He insists that he has to have someone sign off on the police report application that's in a high position in society (a professor, a judge, etc.) and he just located a friend's dad who is willing to. I think he's crazy and I haven't heard of this, do any UK filers know what on earth he's referencing? I assumed it would just be a form you fill out and mail in with a cheque? Also, how do I find out if he needs finger prints or not? He was thinking it was $35 AUD, not $105! I have no idea if all embassies require fingerprints or just some?

While this is stressful, at least we have these tasks to make us feel productive!

For the Australian police check. Here is their website with the fees etc

http://www.afp.gov.au/business/national_police_checks

Of course it is far cheaper ($45AUD) if fingerprints are not required.

I emailed the US consulate in my own country and asked them about fingerprints. They were very helpful and replied immediately. So maybe your fiance could do the same. The UK thread in the regional forum may be able to help you too.

It would be rare for the checks to take 5-6 months but it's just nice to get these things out of the way and not have to worry about them, for when the NOA2 arrives. As you say, it makes us feel productive!

My police report from the UK only took 9days to get back!

Just wish the military records were a bit quicker, taking about 4-6weeks to get, but they can't tell you if they've received the request! Just keep my fingers crossed.

You'll drive yourself nuts girl!! lol.

London Embassy ask for:

Birth Certficates

Adoption Cert

Proof of name change if applicable

Passport

Marriage cert & termination of prior marriages

Military records

Affidavit of support, including pay slips, IRS info, employer letter.

police cert

photographs x2 (+1 for medical)

vaccination records & medical info

copy of original I129F application, with original birth cert etc

Letter of intent

proof of ongoing relationship

PLUS with packet 3 you get forms DS230-I, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157 (males aged 16-45 only) & DS-2000, these need to be returned to the Embassy.

Unsure if all the forms only pertain to London Embassy.

There's probably something I missed from the above which will result in me flapping around like a loon!! hehe

Does anyone know what immunizations you need? (that can be done in advance)

Annax

This is taken from the Sydney US Consulate (immigration visa)

'Please first check with the panel physician as to which vaccinations, according to your age group, you are required to have'

The information is on form DS-3025...but for some reason it isn't downloadable from that site!

Perhaps the answer can be found in the Australian forum on here?!

Good luck with getting your information.

The medical form has the vaccinations listed:

I-693

It may be easier to understand elsewhere, though, since not all vacc's apply (it varies by age and gender in some cases). Scroll to page 2 on this info from the Frankfurt consulate:

Immunization Information

You should be able to just do the immunization updates at the time of the medical exam. Just bring documentation of what you've had.

I hope this helps!
