How is everyone? Did anyone hear from ErinmeetsJohnny? How is everyone doing with their employment situations?

I think we're seeing some people drop off from VJ. I imagine they might come around again when removing conditions time arrives. I'm glad I added several people here on FB to keep in touch. PM me if you want to exchange Facebook contacts if you haven't already.

Andy and I are so happy to be together. I am amazed at what a great man he is every day. Since I was married once before, I appreciate it so much more (and of course also because of the entire visa journey, too). He goes to this crummy job working the graveyard shift and never complains. I am really lucky. He has made it to round 3 of the interviews for the German-speaking IT job at Valve, and will have another interview on the 18th - this time with the entire international support/translations staff, about a dozen people. We are so hopeful; it'd be a nice salaried position at a company he just loves.

Congratulations to you guys. Valve makes great games, I bet he'll get the job. Nobody goes this far without getting some kind of offer (IMO).

It's awesome to see anniversaries coming around. The last almost 8 months for us has flown by. I finally set this thread up for an email subscription because the posts are so spotty, and I don't want to miss what's going on.

Congrats on Jeremy's permanent position! That's wonderful news. :dancing:

Andy got the job at Valve. It's a contractor position to start, which means no benefits for now and hourly wage. But it's a good hourly wage and he gets free parking in downtown Bellevue (which would be 18/day, no small change!), free breakfast/snacks/lunches, and a fully unlocked Steam account (some $10K worth of games)... so it's crazy good. Hopefully in a few months it turns into a salaried position, like it has for most of their 250 or so employees. All the salaried employees are going to Maui in a few weeks for a company vacation... JEALOUS! But I think the best part is that he gets to hang out with 3 other native Germans in his department.

I'm still looking for a design job, but have had a few leads so far, which is better than I'd been doing before. Still waiting to hear back on graduate school acceptance, too. Overall, we're doing really great though.

It's good to see things are going good for everyone. No big news here, just same old work and school. It's nice to see some posts here too. It's like everyone came out of the woodwork all of the sudden. Do you guys spend much time on VJ?

NOA 2. Really?

admittedly, we don't come on here too often anymore, especially considering that many of us have facebook pages. I'm sure we will start coming back again when the next bout with USCIS comes along...

Our anniversary is next Wednesday - time has FLOWN by! Amazing how the speed of time changes when your living life instead of waiting for it to begin!

I don't want to be depressing - but we shared the news with everyone in the first place so I thought it fair to share this on here too... We had a miscarriage before Christmas. No need for mentions.. we're ok now and happily trying again :)

One thing I will ask for is some prayers! I have a job interview next Friday - Senior Personnel in the Epidemiology Dept for Flagler County Dept. of Health. This would be FANTASTIC for us as I'd have a normal 9-5 job and be home with the kids nights and weekends. Far cry from my normal 5-6 days a week working from 2p-11p. Also it has benefits and we have no insurance now.... So I'm really excited!!! Prayers welcome!!

And for you facebook'ers - plz no mention of the job interview on there... I have ppl i currently work with on there and I don't want the word to get out :)

Thanks!!!

well... Ryan is calling!! Have a great day everyone!!!

Nothing academically - that was just general.

Previously I was a Client Manager Supervisor at an in patient non-profit rehab center for drug and alcohol addicted men and women.

I was taking a social problems course and went to interview the director of the program... ended up volunteering, a few weeks later I was offered a position as Client Manager and about 6 months later I was promoted again. I really miss working with the clients. So hard and so rewarding.

The position at the DOH seems to be more supervisory and paperwork oriented... ideally I'd like to get back into the treatment world. I had sort of made a connection here with one that was going to be started - but it doesn't look like it will... or soon enough for me, anyway.

Life is full of twists and turns. It seems like the more you like doing something at work the less likely you are to be able to do it in the long run. You get promoted away from it.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well! Happy anniversary to all who have recently celebrated.

As for us, after a lot of thought we've decided to abandon the US immigration process at this time and move back to the UK. I'll be doing a Master's degree and working on my UK immigration. It just makes a lot of sense for us on many levels, plus, we can apply for the spousal visa using DCF next time which will be much better than the 9 months of separation. We'll still be checking this website and facebook often, though, so keep in touch :).

Wow! Good luck. We wouldn't even dare to try that until citizenship was taken care of...repeating this process again would be harsh. Have you been admitted someplace in the UK? Still Social Work?
