I'm looking into grad programs in social work and counseling now. We'll see!

Good luck. I'd be tempted to look at advanced practice nursing. Social workers I know have to see some pretty brutal things; but I guess that depends on what kind you do.

I want to see the shocking things. I had a pretty tough upbringing and I think that's where I'll make the most difference. I guess I saw a lot of the effects of the nursing shortage this summer. 99% of the time the nurses were at their computers doing paperwork instead of in the room with their patients. They had time for a quick assessment and that was it and it wasn't because they're bad nurses- they just have such high patient loads and so much paperwork. I even shadowed at a few hospitals in the area to make sure I wasn't just having a bad experience with one hospital and found it to be the same. I didn't realize any of this until I started the internship since during clinicals you're always much more focused on your patient than what the nurse is doing. So glad I did the internship before graduation! I commend anyone who is going into the field, though. It's a really noble profession. It just wasn't a good fit for me.

Congrats on the EAD, Aubrey!

Being an CNP would be cool, but I'm sure you've thought about that. However if being underpaid and overworked are turn-offs for ya - I don't know how different social work would be from nursing. But as soon as you find out where your heart is at... I'm sure you'll be happy. GL

Well, our I-485 was transferred to CSC today. I guess that means no interview and faster processing? Nothing on our EAD and AP though. Last activity was Biometrics day for EAD and the day they put it online for AP.

For people who were transferred, how much more time did it take to finish?

Good Luck with Grad School Terri.

NOA 2. Really?

We were transferred July 17th. Couple of touches, one after biometrics and two after that and we are still waiting. There are several of us in the June AOS thread that have put paid to the myth that is is faster. It might have been, but it seems to have slowed down.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

As cdneh said in our AOS thread there have certainly been a few who have shot holes in "faster processing" theory, but assuming all goes well and you are not transferred back out to your local office it does mean no interview

Good luck to you on your new path!! Social work is also a noble profession.

No interview is good. From timelines it looks like most people are approved within a month of transfer. The weird thing is that our EAD and AP are basically dead in the water. Got another touch on I-485 today.
