Andy's interview is just a week away, but no idea when we'll actually have the funds to bring him over. After all my family drama over this process, I'm figuring I won't have a reliable co-sponsor for AOS, so that just makes it more important Andy provide funds to make it till EAD. Graduation is not long away now, so hopefully I will beat the economic downturn and find a design job without much delay.

Weren't you a teacher in a past life Aubrey? Do you ever think about going back to it just to get Andy here while you look for a design job?

Returning to teaching has multiple complications (time lapsed, living in a different state, etc). But more importantly, I was a miserable, depressed human being and would never subject myself or my family and friends to that person again. K-12 is not the right place for me. I didn't go 20K+ into student loan debt just to end up back in that environment. I haven't even started my design job hunt yet, I don't finish until May.

Congrats!

I hope Andy's mom is okay, Aubrey. Seems like you've been super stressed lately- enjoy spring break while you can! :)

Thanks doll, me too. Andy's stress and frustration definitely has been rubbing off on me, and he's trying to be more positive despite everything since he knows that now. It's easier to stay positive when busy, and definitely hard when you're getting nowhere on a goal like he's been with job hunting.

And hopefully this post doesn't sound too oddball. If it does, blame it on the medicine cabinet my doc prescribed me today. The codeine definitely makes me groggy. Did you guys know you can gargle children's liquid ibruprofen for a sore throat? I didn't...

charity&mounssaif -- congrats.

*GARGLES* thanks Aubrey love...We found others to stand up so he made the choice...C'est la vie

I been stressed to girl...HANG IN THERE!!! HUGS!! and hugs to andys mum!

CHARITY AND MOUNSSAIF :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance: GRATZ!

Hey guys, I know that it is not the good topic for this question but I wanted to ask you guys before to post the same question at the right place.

I applied for my SSN today, even if I'm married now the woman couldn't put my new name. She asked me to bring a document for the Homeland security or to wait to get my work authorization card with my new name on it, and then she will change my name on the SSN card.

Do you know if during the AOS process (maybe when we will fill the petition) we can ask for them to put my new name.

Thank you !!!

Ju

The only thing i can suggest is you apply for SSN in your maiden name and then change it over to your married name later when you file AOS! At least that way you will have a number to work from.

Although i'm having a nightmare just getting a SSN full stop!! Been told no 3times now!

Although i'm having a nightmare just getting a SSN full stop!! Been told no 3times now!

The first time I went to the SSN office the lady said that I couldn't get a SSN number before my AOS cuz' they need my work authorization.

I was confused so I said "oh ok, I didn't know" and I left thinking "this is bullshit cuz' I know that Nick got his SSN even before to get married".

So I went home and I printed the part on their own website saying that as a K1 holder you can get one.

I went back this morning, and it was the same woman. I said "I already came here to get a SSN and you guys told me no blablabla..." "but I checked on your website and I can def get one". So she took my passport and played with her computer for a couple minutes and said that it was ok.

So you should print this document and go back, sometimes they know nothing about non immigrant visa...

I will try to find the link for you
