1 post away from page 3? What is wrong with you people???

No new fights with parents, bizarre medical conditions, wedding purchases? I'm gonna have to go back to watching TV if you guys don't pick up the drama in here. Maybe someone can go post that marrying on the VWP is wrong and so is marrying anyone more than 10 years older than you??? Please?

:wow:

lol, it has been kinda quiet.

How's everything with you? must be drama free for you guys if you're going to just watch TV!! lol

Slow here, just waiting to escape the background check unit at CSC. Last I heard our case was on a supervisor's desk waiting for them to sign off on some CYA memo. (Cover Your @ss). It has been there since Nov. 25/26.

When I called Friday I asked them point blank. We went in on the first 2 days we were touched. So I asked about November 25 and 26 and they said yes. I'd imagine it'll be the same for you.

NOA 2. Really?

I have some news. Today a friend of mine forced me to start wedding planning which worked out great. I reserved a restaurant. Hired a florist. Scheduled cake tastings for next Saturday. Put a deposit on my wedding band. Scheduled dress fittings for tomorrow. I am so grateful for my friend. So so so grateful. I'd be avoiding planning all week because I was so overwhelmed but now I feel so much better now that the restaurant has been reserved. The place is very flexible and is willing to replace the dessert course with a wedding cake so that should save about $200. I'm still going to the other cake tastings because you never know but I could potentially save a couple hundred.

Does anyone have any advice of affordable but nice wedding photography. That's a big one and I'm a lil scared about finding someone for my small occasion.

Juliette, it's a big move so it's completely normal to have some conflicting feelings. I have lived at home for the past 4 years since I graduated from college. My mom has been kinda sad the past couple of weeks and I'm only moving a few miles away. It's exciting but it's a big change so don't feel bad about moving from France to the US. You and Jamie will be very happy but it's normal to be a little sad.

Terri, I also have to let a few of my guests bring sig o's that I am not fond of...which also means that I have to pay for their lunch and more importantly be around them the whole day when I can't even stand the sight of them. Well it's only one person really but I guess I have to suck it up :P I am deathly afraid that this guest will cause a scene which maybe wouldnt be that bad except they are 1/15 of the wedding party. :( small party, big scene.

Rob&Dawn - don't you love those contentious threads in off-topic? I always wanna write something but I'm afraid of the wrath of VJ'ers. As much as everyone says "Love is love", we all know that we have negative/judgmental opinions of certain types of relationships.

Corinthians, Mohammedwalks, Navid, PB and everyone else that is still waiting. I check on your statuses in the 6+ month thread and I am waiting for that "APPROVED" post! It seems like some progress has been made, especially with Estadia's case. I'm wishing and hoping and praying for you guys too!

LAST THING :) completely random but new topic - Where does your VJ name come from? I'll go first. "K" is the first letter in my first name and I'm from Oakland, CA. Not very clever but I had to come up with something on the spot.

My heart really goes out to all of you still in security checks :(. I check this thread every day and hope for your approvals- you're closer every minute if that's any consolation. (Ha, when I typed that I wrote 'consulation' instead of 'consolation'- a sign I spend too much time on VJ?).

As for affordable wedding photography, I know some people have mentioned looking at local art schools to see if any students want to build their portfolios. If you don't mind me asking- what is your photography budget? Our Barcelona wedding photographer was going to charge us around £1000 to fly to California. He's amazing and I can give you his info if you're interested. We're having a small, intimate ceremony in the States too and we asked photographers for their hourly rates since we didn't need a full day's worth of coverage. Might be worth considering. We'll be paying $100 for an hours coverage and a dvd with all of the unedited images.

Sorry to hear you're feeling down, Juliette. I don't think you're being complicated at all- moving to a new country is a huge life change and it's only natural to feel sad about leaving everything behind. America is a fresh start though, and I'm sure you'll be brimming with joy before you know it :).

As for me, my mini veil crisis is over. I found a gorgeous one at a consignment shop and although it was a bit more than I'd intended to pay- Sebastian offered to buy it for me! All is on track again.

Where does your VJ name come from?

Corinthians is a football club in Sao Paulo.

You can check them out here:

If you're ever randomly wandering through Brasil, you should totally go to a game; it's awesome even if you aren't in to sports.
