I am very happy for all my VJs friends who are getting approved one by one. AWESOME !

Well Aubrey, you are not alone here. I got divorced in March 2008. For the story, I got married october 2006, I met Jamie november 2006 (nothing happened), I found out that my ex-husband was talking for awhile (way before our wedding) on the internet with women (not about the weather if you know what I mean). I got closer to Jamie and met him again (february 2007 whenI was not with my ex-husband anymore).

My parents really loved my ex-husband. I didn't talk about Jamie for awhile, because they were very sad about my divorce. Then I talked about him in july 2008 and then I talked about the K1. My parents just said that they want me to be happy, but they don't want to share my love life for awhile. So now we NEVER talk about Jamie and the visa process. Jamie came at the beginning of december, I told my parents but they never asked to meet him... I'm sad about this situation sometimes but you know, it is my life and I just said to my mum "I respect your decision, you know that the door will be open when you'll be ready".

I don't even know if I will tell them the date of our wedding, I'm kinda lost sometimes...

It is why it is a big support for me to share everything with you guys here...

Love

It went well...practically painless...in spite of all my concerns. Being stuck at NVC for all that time did nothing at all for my cheery disposition. :no:

My interviewer said...'oh...you were stuck for some time in RANDOM checks...." Random. So all we did was draw the short straw :lol:

Congratulations :dance::dance:

Congratulations :thumbs:

Wish I could have taken pictures of a few arrangements I made today to share that so this wouldn't be such a blah post! I'm glad I found a job that is enjoyable. Just wish I had a few more hours to get stuff accomplished and sleep. I'd better get off to the store while everyone's still caught up watching football and the lines are short!

Aubrey I dont think any of us mind if you need to vent your frustrations here. You seem to be coping with so much at the moment its a shame that you dont have your parents support. We are here for you Aubrey, and your SO is there too dont forget. So please, dont apologise for venting, I am sure, like myself, others would love to support you as you support others.

With Alice (another FrenchVJs) we made some research. If you get married just after she arrives in the US you should ask her SSN just after your wedding, so you can put the name she wants. For the work permit and the advance parole, you will fill some forms when you do the AOS, so it will be free (not the AOS of course). And then she will receive after the AOS approval the temporary green card for 2 years...

@Cham: Haha, that line about picking made me chuckle, thanks. I actually did hang up on her the first time and then she called me back to continue it. It is hard because things have always been difficult with my mother and seemed to have improved until my divorce.

@Juliette: Yeah, my parents haven't completely digested my divorce either. I'm so sorry that your folks won't hear anything about your fiancé - that is so sad. I hope they come around for you! My folks don't seem to process how I've seemed to move along so quickly from my divorce to Andy, but for me my marriage was sort of over before it began and then really over once it started (my ex's bi-polar downswing and sitting in his car smoking every night for 3 months was just the push I needed to end it). I knew Andy for 2 years already when I divorced my ex, so it wasn't such a leap for me.

@Rob&Dawn: Thank you for how caring and supportive you've been. It's really helped me a lot. I can't tell you how much.

The VJ community is a lifeline for many of us, I think. There's nothing else quite like this process (thank goodness), and the world just doesn't seem to have an ear for it. I just don't want to become the downer of the group. But of course I'll continue to support everyone here as much as I can. It's important we're there for each other.
