I'm excited for you Juliette and for everyone where ever you are in the process. I think I'm most excited for Nick though who has the added blessing of the little one. :)

Juliette, are you going to do the publication des bans? I want to do it but it'll hold up my wedding day plans by a month :(

In France ? No, I didn't even think about it. I thought that la publication des bans was when you get married in France, your names and blablabla are on the wall at the "mairie". Do we have to do that if we get married in the US ?

Noi is here -- safe and happy. We spent a couple of days in NYC before arriving back in Maryland. However, she had a horrible experience in immigration with rude staff at JFK. Absolutely refused to issue a temporary EAD (woman said she was too busy. Noi said she spent two hours eating and joking with a fellow immigration official). Also, I believe there was a document (?) that Noi should have been issued and wasn't.

As a USC, is there a USCIS number I can call to complain?

Apparently you do -- well you can kinda skip it and do the transcription something something but I guess you're supposed to which is the reason why I'm getting married a month after Jeremy gets here and not right away. :P They talked about it last summer on the France/America thread. Here is a link to the French Consulate in San Francisco where they talk about it. Jeremy says that we have to do it to have our marriage recognized in France. Maybe you can read it and give me a second opinion :)http://www.consulfrance-sanfrancisco.org/s...e-de-mariage-et

Congrats on having your fiancee here. Sorry about the harassment and rudeness of the JFK immigration people. I'm too busy to give you work authorization. That is BS.

A brief review of my day........

Well, very anti climatic but a huge relief its finally over and done with!!

Ok arrived at Victoria Stn at 645 and had a quick walk up to Goulds Pharmacy on St Audley street which opened at 0730hrs. When i got there a few other people were also dropping stuff off, which is £5 by the way.

I got two new pictures done to be on the safe side as my others were 8-9 months old. Again £5 for two.

Walked back to the Embassy and joined the queue, about 0745hrs

A young lady was wandering around with small clear plastic bags and telling folk to put any loose change, watches, rings, belts etc inside (basically anything metallic) Ladies if you have a small bag then everything can go inside that from what I could see.

After 5-10 minutes we started to filter thro security. There's a small check mid way where they check your passport and interview letter.

Got through security no problems although they made me drink half my bottle of pop, to prove it wasn't liquid semtex I guess???

Walked round to the VISA entrance and picked up my number at 0815hrs (5006) and took a seat.

About 40 minutes later I was called to window one where the guy asked me to confirm my name and asked for my passport. He then couldn't find my medical records until it clicked that my interview had been brought forward. He went off again and came back with my X ray and notes. He then ran thro the checklist of what he needed, birth certificate, marriage certificates and divorce certificates, police certificate and affidavit of support.

He seemed quite surprised that I had photocopied all of the above but was quite impressed! Took my fingerprints and handed me my Xray and a pink form to fill in for the couriers and asked me to take a seat.

Twenty minutes later I was called to window 16.

Spoke to a very nice female consular officer who verified my ID, took fingerprints again and asked the following questions:

When did we first meet.

When/ how did we start talking.

How many times have we seen each other in the past 12 months.

What does Shan do for a living.

What do I do for a living and what would I like to do once I'm in the US.

When did we get engaged.

Thank you. You're all good to go...

CONGRATULATIONS NICK, enjoy yourself in the US.

Walked over to the courier place and paid my £14 and off I went one happy Bunny!!

Nice and easy tho very stressful! :(
