Our check been cashed and now we have case number ,we didn't receive anything in the mail yet ,hopefully soon

My check will never be cashed because i mad a silly mistake, i put "$455:00", which is correct, but i miss spelt it in words i wrote " four hundred and fifty" instead of "four hundred and fifty five",,i found out 2 days ago curiously going through the documents i submitted, i had made copies of every thing including the cheque, and i'm getting tired of this whole process, i may be going home to Marry my Angel and file as a wife, because, k3 is more relaible in Nigeria when it comes to the Consulate section, it's just because Nigeria is tagged a high fraud immirating country.

What's real crazy is how fast the times for estimated NOA2 are moving up, the estimates for me were mid December and now it is moving into November. Hope it's like that for all of us.

I am really glad you pointed that out because I did not notice that. At first they said by January 7th and now it is by December 29th. Hope that really happens.

Well slowly but surely getting closer.........Sandman sent his package on the 12th.....I was 9 days after him. Woohoo I think once the check gets cashed I will feel more that there is at least a process

First off Congratz to all!

Okay if you go to the Uscis website and look under case status online; there is a sign up area you can sign up ( it will tell you how to and follow it because it is rather picky)

once you are in and have your case number put in from your NOA-1 you can go online there to check your status. You will see a date like 7/28/08 and so on every time you see this change...THIS is considered a TOUCH

Well I made a thread in the main forum but I'll post it here too. I found out why my check still hadn't been cashed. Because they mailed the entire packet out to me. Apparently the check my mom wrote (I don't have a checking account) was written out "Four hundred 55/100" instead of "four hundred and fifty-five and 00/100"

=_= So yeah...getting a money order and mailing it out AGAIN tomorrow.

Guys i have been mad all the while for not receiving my NOA1, buts it's all for my silly mistake, i received my whole application back in the mail today and the cover letter said i made a mistake on the check i submitted, which i already suspected about 4days ago, i'm happy though, i know my application is not lost, i'll write a correct check and send the application back on monday through over-night delivery, to the address they provided, it's the same st. Albans, but another department, i hope this correction will put us on back on track quick.

We filed our I129F July 8th and yesterday I got my first NOA

Actually USCIS received everything on July 31st, but our lawyer mailed us yesterday.

And now of course I will check my email even more to see if something has changed.....

I have just found this thread and am soo happy to find other july filers!!

The California Service Centre received our package on 07-14-2008. They issued an NOA1 on 07-24-2008 and had our first 'touch' on 07-28-2008.

Has everyone received their NOA1 yet?

Hey Aussie Love, NOA1 is the receipt u received, in the mail, (Notice of Action) and NOA2 will be ur approval notice. If u go to USCIS web site, u can register ur receipt number to track the status of ur petition, each update on ur petition is a "Touch", it's just a slang most of us uses.

Welcome!!!! The whole process is a little confusing at first for sure! It seems like one just finds out about one aspect of the process, then there is more to learn and find out about!! I am soo glad there are folks on VJ that are well versed on the whole K1 journey and can advise!

A good starting place is the GUIDES and FAQS pages that are on the top of VJ page. I see from your timeline that you received a receipt in the mail. Was that from USCIS? If so, then that would be your NOA1 which is called a 1-1797 Notice Of Action letter. It is a receipt notice to say they received your payment and package.

On the notice is a receipt number(top left side of letter) If you go to the USCIS site and register,(type in your receipt number) you can track the process of the application (to a small degree). They have a date on your tracking page, when it changes that usually means that someone has 'touched' your file. Of course it may mean nothing, they may have just moved it from one desk to another but it is exciting to see when the date changes!!

I am sure others can explain it better than I The people at VJ are so friendly and helpful and will answer even the most silliest question (although it doesn't seem silly when we ask at the time
