I just received an e-mail reply from the Embassy that they haven't RECEIVED our case yet. I'm a bit shocked now, because NVC confirmed once again that it was sent on 12/12. I called DOS, but all they could tell me was it was sent by NVC, but not received by the Embassy and it's nothing to worry about. They told me Embassy has the electronic file, but not the physical one. :(

Now, I looked everywhere and some people ASSUME that until case is entered in the system, it will be considered as it was not received yet. So it could be sittng on the shelf at the Embassy somewhere and they would tell you they don't have it yet because they didn't process it. This is just an uneducated guess though and DOS employee apparently doesn't know anything about the way the process works.

Does anybody have a knowledge on this? This is certainly not the kind of news I wanted to hear right before the New Year, but maybe I'm freaking out for nothing. :help:

Sorry, Cham, now I'm even more confused. So if they are still waiting on paperfile, then what was in the DHL package that they received and signed up for??? The way DOS lady explained it to me, the Embassy had our electronic file (e-mail), but they didn't have the paper file in their possession yet. I don't know, I might be reading too much int this, but I assumed that our case was already at the Embassy and interview date was coming up and now I have no idea what's going on. :bonk:

Well, sounds to me like they didn't have your paper file at first and then they got it.

Don't know what to make of all these DHL shipments we tried to track here and NVC's statement that they sent it out on 12/12 then. Were they referring to the e-file and the paper file wasn't sent out until the later date? I don't understand why the process can't be made a bit more clear? Is it a matter of national security or do they like to get annoyed with all these phone calls?

Anyway, it would be good to hear from some other people whose cases already left NVC. Do you by any chance know what it is that the Embassy has???

I think that your I129F petition is at the Embassy, has been delivered by DHL but has not been input into their system/processed. When I called NVC a few weeks ago they told me that the Embassy had received the electronic file but not the physical file. I checked DHL and it had been delivered. I think that your assumption is right. The embassy has your file but it's on a shelf waiting to be processed.

We went through the same thing. At one point a DOS employee explained it to me like this... When we sent in our petition, we knew they rec'd it on July 3rd (for example) but we didn't get our NOA1 until July 25th.... that it is sort of the same thing with the Embassy. The place they receive mail is not actually at the Embassy. So while DHL may have a sign-for name and date, it doesn't mean that it's at the Embassy yet - and will still need some days to make its way there and then be processed into their system - which will then be the day that we finally 'show up' in the system.

Our case left NVC on Dec 8th... It wasn't until the 16th of Dec that we showed up in their system with a date of Dec 11th. When ever we'd call during that time we'd get the same thing, "they rec'd our electronic file and are waiting for the paper" blah blah blah LOL :)

Well, thanks for your replies, folks. I sure hope you are right. I'm just concerned that it was sent on the 12th and they still don't have it. Maybe this is all due to the holidays and some of their staff being on vacation. Embassy advised me to get back to them after 1/14, so two more weeks of waiting game begin...
