Hello guys, how is your thanksgiving day? i miss my OS but we both hope the next year be togheter.......and celebrate in family..........

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK. Shame i could do with a good excuse to stuff myself silly on sweets!

Visiting your SO doesn't mean only coming to the US, how about visiting them in their country if you have the money so they won't risk getting denied and wasting the $1500 for the trip..

Just got back from Brazil on the 17th of Nov. I've spent a month there this year but you only get so much vacation....

All I'm saying is cut people a break. If you think someone sounds down in a post or negative, say something to help 'em feel better. They could just as easily argue that you are emotionally cold and distant as opposed to "mature and better able to deal with stress" given your posts here. Plus you've got to expect flack when you pop in to a thread 4 months after it started and tell people you don't know how they should behave.

Has anyone purchased their wedding bands?

We have ours, we had a kind of unofficial ceremony with just us and the kids last time I was in Florida, Our eldest wrote something for us welcoming me to be part of their family, was fantastic.

The rings are Platinum and have each others names engraved on in Ancient kanji symbols. Inside we had inscribed NEMO NISI MORS which is Latin for nothing but death will part us.

As for the wedding ring question, Sebastian got his when he was visiting the U.S. this summer. He wanted to wear some sort of engagement ring too (which I thought was really sweet!) so we bought his wedding ring and he's wearing it on his right hand. We'll switch it to the left on our wedding day.

I'm still in the process of trying to figure out what I want. Something with white gold and diamonds. The Christmas sales should help! We thought about having ours engraved too. I think this is South Carolina's motto or something, but Dum Spiro Spero means, "While I breathe, I hope" and we both think that really sums up a lot of our relationship.

Well, you might look at Amazon and Overstock today. Amazon's doing an extra 30% off 3,5, and 7 stone diamond rings among some other deals. Overstock's doing 10% all jewelry & free shipping, and I got an extra $5 off coupon. I shopped regular stores for rings for my first marriage, and now I feel like I was ripped off because it's so much cheaper online.

I totally splurged on the ring I wanted. I justified it to myself by the $35 discount from the sales and coupon (ok, it was $60 more than I wanted to spend still, but... I'm going to have my pink darn it! ).

I don't like being misrepresented .. and I don't frequent VJ like alot of folks do, as my free time is usually preoccupied with something else.. and like I said, sometimes ppl don't take being told how it is too well, I don't mind pampering ppl once, but when it's constant, just reminds me of a kid not getting their way and throwing a fit.. very unmature for an adult to be acting.. and if you think I should expect ppl to give me flack cus you assumed I've never been on this thread and decided to post after 4/months, then I got as much right to call ppl out on how they are acting... cus lately alot of ppl been expressing their right for some reason..

I think all of this is getting a little out of hand. I mean, if you're upset that you're away from your loved ones, vent about it. And if you're trying to be chipper and upbeat, share your positivity with everyone else in hopes that it will make them feel better.

I agree that this thread has been a bit more depressing this past month than it has been helpful. And if you don't like that (I can't say I do, but hey...everyone is under stressful circumstances) there are two ways of dealing with it. You can be all like "YOU ARE SO SPITEFUL AND MISERABLE. HOW DARE YOU BE UPSET THAT YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR NOA2 LIKE ME!", or you can share your optimism say "Hey everyone, remember why we're doing all of this! LOVE!"

I choose the latter.

Yes Cham, let's change the subject! Things are going well here. I'm fortunate enough to get to visit Sebastian a month from yesterday, so we're both very ecstatic and have been busy planning out our visit together. Our wedding/elopement planning is going really well, too! I have my dress, we have our venue, our photographer and we're working on our vows. Sebastian is writing a song for me to walk down the aisle to and we've decided to plan a big vow renewal reception at Christmas next year, so we're planning that. Lots of joy and love all around for us! Now we just need the NOA2. From the bottom of my heart though, I hope that every single person who applied before us is approved before we are. It's been difficult, sure, but I feel like we're taking things in stride more than a lot of people here are and I want those who are struggling more to have it before us. We're both very young, don't have overwhelming economic burdens, have been able to squeeze in one visit and, perhaps most importantly, we don't have kids who miss their mommy or daddy. You guys all really do deserve it ASAP and I'm anxiously keeping my fingers crossed for loads of approvals this week!

I agree about the border thing. I wish they'd give some sort of provisional paper that takes the uncertainty out of travel while this is going on. We could afford extra trips but who wants to roll the dice with $1500 and get turned away because a customs agent didn't get their coffee that morning.

Corinthians, yes I do read my post before I hit "Add Reply" button, otherwise my post would REALLY offend alot of ppl that don't like getting straight talk . I like to think that we're all adults and don't need our hands held cus we can't handle the short separation that we are going thru.... I'm sure everyone had a 'life' before meeting their SO, did that all of a sudden go away and now your life only revolves around your SO??? Sometimes tough love is hard to swallow when you keep feeling self pitty for yourself cus you're not getting what you want as you watch other ppl getting theirs... In real life, life is never fair....

Like I said before I'm very happy for you and it is cool that you sahred your happiness with us. I'm sure that if people said "bad" things it was not against you, it was just against uscis process.

Just because some of us have a hard time being apart from the ones we love and exercise the right to moan doesn't mean we're wallowing in self pity or trying to negate the success of others that have been approved before us.

No, this actually wasn't a very "nice and happy thread" at all. You're kidding right? Scroll up and look at all the miserable icons used on all the posts...you'll see how miserable this thread has become. It started very happy and very uselful. Then it just degenerated into slamming the USCIS and later, the people who got approved earlier than people who filed earlier. It's a bit unsettling to hear all the terrible, negative views expressed against the USCIS by people trying so desperately to get into the USA. I can't wait to get to the US to be with my fiance. I'd much rather be approved in 2 months rather than 4 or 6. But I knew this would take some time. We all did, right? We all are having a hard time being away from "the one we love" but, sorry, yeah...you are wallowing...at least some of the people here are...and some definitely are unhappy about the success of others. Well, that explains alot of the posts yesterday.

I haven't read these posts on other threads, but if someone is so negative and undesirable why are you guys following her around VJ and then being critical of people here?

Sugar coating your attacks and throwing in a few smiley faces doesn't make you any better than the people you claim are being negative. To me, it's just a wolf in sheeps clothing routine...just a different kind of negativity.

If you think a person is out of line, talk to a moderator. Hopefully going into this week we can get past this ####### for tat BS and enjoy the approvals we're going to get.
