Question on meeting in person...

Wendy and I met in person for just under 4 weeks a couple months ago. We have filed for the K1, and everything is good so far. Both my parents are helping me to create a letter to mail individually with my Affidavit of Support and they will Co-Sponsor with me. I question though if meeting 1 time is enough? I hear stories of people getting the white slip because they only met one time. Should I prepare a second trip? Or should I arrive before her interview so that we can say I travelled to her twice, she can say that I am downstairs waiting for her, and she can then come home with me?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

this is crazy. i just posted the same question. lol. anyways, my fiance' and i met in 2005 but it was just a chance meeting. i never saw him after that. but it was through long-distance communication via YM and emails that our love for each other grew. and it was only November of last year when he came here and we spent only 3 weeks together. so, i believe that any reply to your question will also be a reply for mine. God bless you both. may your love for each other grow stronger during this waiting time.

For as long a you meet your SO in person before filing k1 petition and could provide reliable evidences of the existing relationship, you're good. or if you feel like you can be a great help for her during interview you can also accompany her.

Great! Thanks for you help. I am planning to return for her interview time, it is just a matter of being able to budget that trip, and plan for her arrival here as well. Such as the cost of the wedding here, and all that entails. I want to have everything well prepared and I don't want to mess anything up that could jeopardize our chances for anything other than a pink slip. :-)

i saw the photos you posted. you look very cute couple! i understand what you mean. i am in china and my bf is in texas. we filed the application almost at the same time! but we have met 3 times since last summer. he and his family came to china twice and i visited his family once. he is coming to china again next week. :)

it will be helpful if you meet for the second time before her final interview. but as long as you keep chatting record or get enough evidence to show you have a true relationship, there would be no problem. my bf is not rich and his parents will spenser us too. you can let your parents write a supportive letter and show it to the embassy at her interview. good luck!!

hey, i am sorry but your information is a little bit confusing..

2007-APR-28 : Met via Skype by the best accident ever!

2007-MAR-20 : Met in Guangzhou, China for the first time in person.

2008-APR-14 : Dylan departed China in return to Oklahoma, USA.

you stayed in china for almost a year?? if you had spent almost a year in china with her, then there should be no problem if you do not have to see her again before her interview.

you met via skype 2007-APR-28 and met in person 2007-MAR-20??hehe.... the month looks confusing..:)

Ah yes, good thinking! I am working two jobs and have so much going on, besides trying to get my fiance at my side. You can see my lack of sleep is really starting to show. I guess I am more afraid that I am working hard, and I keep reading the interview horror stories, and I need to make sure I do everything 100% correct. the first time.

I am starting to become a wreck, haha. :-)

There is no problem with meeting one time as long it was within the last 2 years. Solid evidence of a on-going relationship is what they are looking for..... Good Luck to you!

Those of you dealing with GUZ will want to check out www.candleforlove.com as it is one of the more 'difficult' consulates to deal with. Also, if you ask questions here relating to China, you will want to rely on answers from those who have dealt with this particular Embassy ( namely, pushbrk ;) ).

good luck

Actually, he's getting good advice already. Dan is really more of the K1 expert for China as well. I'd say if you can only afford two trips to China, the second one being at the time of interview is slightly better than other options in terms of success with the visa. She can hand over your passport with hers to the interviewer to indicate you are waiting downstairs.

You have lots to learn and plenty of time to learn it. Good luck.

My wife went through GUZ with me only being once in china to see her . No problem. It could take up to a week to get visa in hand after the interview. Many people caution about buying plane tickets before the interview.
