It took me 4 business days to receive my SSN card after applying. They sent it thru the mail. Hope your fiancee will get hers soon too...

It may take a few weeks in your case because you may have gone to apply too soon (based on your timeline). The general recommendation on this forum is to wait at least 2 weeks once you enter the US to apply for SSN. The reason is that it takes up to that long for your immigration info to enter the SSA database. If your info hadn't arrived at SSA when you applied they will have to do a manual verification, which I was also told can take up to 6 weeks.

No, it requires a visit to an SSA office

YMMV

It took mine two months (that was back in 2003, things probably got streamlined since then).

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

We were told the same thing about USCIS verification, after two weeks went by we called and it still wasn't verified and I believe if we hadn't called them it would still be not verified. It took 4 & 1/2 weeks in all to get it

If you just applied they shouldn't need to send a copy of the I-94 already. It's a 3 step process, first the intital verification, then the secondary electronic verification and if the response from the secondary electronic verification requests to see a copy of the documents, then the document(s) sent under cover of form G-845. I would make sure they didn't skip the second step and sent the G-845 right away, since that's what takes weeks or months.

If the SSA office follows procedure it shouldn't matter. If you apply before you have been in the country 10 days, they are supposed to do the initial verification and then hold it until the 10th day and do another initial verification before submitting the secondary electronic verification. SSA would rather that you wait 10 days, since it gives them double work and you take the chance of them not doing the 2nd intital verification, but it has never been a requirement to wait 10 days.
