Hi everyone. I got a letter from NVC yesterday saying our K3 paperwork would be forwarded to the Consulate in Rio de Janeiro this week. They gave us our consulate case number and said my husband would be receiving a packet from the consulate shortly. There was also a bar code in the middle of the paper.

Does anyone know how it works in Rio in particular? I read some place that they just assign you your date and you bring all documents with you the date of the interview. Is this true and if not is there something I can send in ahead of time like the DS-230 now that we have a case number to speed up the interview assignment date?

Thank you!

Since your I-129F was approved on the 22nd. Chances are your paperwork is already in Rio. You can call the NVC, 1-800-603-334-0700. For K3, you need to talk to a person. Ask when it was sent. It usually takes 4 to 5 days after it is sent to reach the embassy. You can call the emassy in RIO and ask if they have received the I-129F. If they have, you can set up the interview on the phone.

According to another person from Rio, no I do not think you send in anything to the embassy in advance of the interview. But if you call them and set the interview date, you should get the interview sooner than waiting for the to assign you a date.

Jen,

if you are pursuing with the K3 simply ignore that letter from NVC with a barcode. If you pay that you will be pursuing with the Immigrant Visa (CR1). Just let the I129F arrive in Rio de Janeiro and they will schedule your husband's interview date.

Since my husband and I decided to go with K3 he ignored that letter and our case (I129F) was forwarded to the Rio de Janeiro Embassy and I got my interview date. Shortly after that, I received a packet 4 and 3 (instructions).

Yes, they especifically tell you NOT TO SEND ANYTHING ahead of time, just bring all documents to your interview.

Call NVC and talk to an operator. Give them your I129F case number and ask for your RDJ number. - Just like that.

They will give you a RDJ number (it's RDJ2008..... something). With that RDJ number you can call the Rio de Janeiro Embassy from 1:30pm to 3:30pm (Brazilian time) and talk to someone there. They will schedule your husband's interview date over the phone.

That's how it went with me.

Good luck! :star:

Thanks Renata. The letter I got was about the I-129f and I have the RDJ case number in the letter. I will call the consulate today. Do you happen to know the number? If not I can find it I'm sure.

Thanks again!

Jen

Jen,

the phone is:

+ 55 21 3823-2021. Remember, they are only open to people from 1:30pm to 3:30pm Brazilian time!

Just give them your I129F RDJ number and they'll give you your husband's interview date!

Good Luck!

Renata
