I am confused CR1 and K3

Hi!

My husband filed for my K3 at the end of April and was approved in June! 15 days!

Now we are waiting for my interview! Much better than CR1 that takes forever.

CR1 (Immigrant Visa) is a cheaper and maybe better visa, it depends on what your priorities are.

I think you should pursue with the K3. Then you can apply for AOS, but at least you'll be doing that together and not appart.

Renata

That is exactly the point of my husbie..

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

I also sent in my paperwok the end of April to CSC. And both petitions were approved and both forwarded to NVC. This seems to be the normal thing for CSC lately.

I am currently following both routes. Today I sent my final papers, DS-230, to NVC. My wife has her medical next Friday for her K3. I expect that my CR1 will be complete in a week or two, before my K3 interview. Then I can change the interview from a K3 to a CR1.

It should help you speed things up because you filed for K3, because it looks like the K3's are being approved faster than the stand alone CR1's. And when the CSC approves the I-129F, they approve the I-130 at the same time.

Ok. So we could definitely change K3 interview to CR1? Depends on the time frame?

as for me i think the time different are not that much off.

if you file k3 then you will be 1-3 month shorter than the cr1.

but you have to wait for aos, ssn and other stuff when you get to the US

cr1 is worth the wait and it the true immigrants visa.

Thanks. If the CR1 would just take 7 to 8 months then i guess my husband could bear but longer than that he would go crazy.. :P

If your I-130 case file arrives at the Consulate even one day before an already scheduled K3 interview, the K3 visa is no longer available. A K3 visa cannot be granted if an immigrant visa is immediately available. The I-130 case file on station in the Consulate is the standard used to determine an immigrant visa is available. The interview date can be used for an immigrant (CR1 or IR1) interview or the Consulate can schedule a later date if you prefer.
