June 28th online at the embassy in Islamabad

waiting for paper transfer and the good word

OCTOBER 14TH 2005 Interview Number 2: ISLAMABAD, PK

AR number 2 sent to DOS per Islamabad (2 cable request)

Nov 22 okd updated financial and etc proof accepted / embassy waiting for security cables

dec 20th one cable back waiting on 2nd

Jan 17th.. good word recieved. SECURITY CHECKS ALL CLEAR!!! DOS says embassy to contact him within two weeks!!!!!!

FEBRUARY 10th, 2006 VISA RECIEVED!!! They called him In via phone, stamped his passort and sent him on his way!!!

FEB 28th WELCOME HOME>>>POE CHICAGO did not even look at xray, few questions. one hour wait at Poe

march 10th marriage (nikkah at the islamic center)

aug 2006 AOS interview, cond 2 yr GC arrived september

June 2008 applied for removal of conditions on permant residency aka awaiting for 10 yr greencard

Just wondering if you guys had any input on when I should book Neetu's ticket for... Her interview is the 16th so I was looking at (originally) the 22nd evening - now we're looking more at the 23rd but there's a question as to whether we should be looking at the 24th .... Confusing!!!

The reason for all this thinking is that the VFS office told Neetu that it could take 3-4 business days for her to have the passport ready for pick up. If I'm doing the math right, not counting the day of the interview and not counting the weekend that will follow, aiming at the 23rd allows for 5 business days...

Is that cutting it too close? Loto - I know Fathima is gonna fly over about a week after her interview date so I'm using that same model ...

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

rajee, I think if it takes 3-4 business days, you can block the ticket on 23rd.

But, are you sure it takes that long for passport counter collection ? VFS website says, for Delhi candidates, it can be collected on the next business day after the interview date same like Chennai.

The reason why I booked on July 11th was a big mistake, I could have done it (also I thought the same) on July 9th. The stupid people at VFS Cochin advised us there is no counter passport collection for immigrant visa candidates and it is only for non-immigrant visa candidates. That's why I delayed the ticket purchase to arrive the passport at our home address. When she went to Chennai VFS, she was told, yes, she can come on Monday (07/07/2008) evening to collect the passport. Now, we lost 2 days in this process, but that's ok.
