Hi:

My spouse and my son have lost their passport.

We are in process of applying at the chicago consulate.

We have biometrice appointment on 6/1/06.

The only picture ID my wife has is her Indian drivers license and copy of passport.

My son(3yr old) has copy of passport

Is that adequate for the Biometrics.

Please suggest.

Contact the Indian consulate to see if you can obtain replacement passports before June 1st. If not, find out how long it will be to obtain replacement passports, then contact the address listing on the biometrics notice that you will need another appointment and give a date after the consulate says the passports will arrive. You can also write on the notice that you are waiting for new passports to replace the ones that are lost and wish your appointment to be rescheduled to after the new passports arrive.

I don't know if they will process the biometrics without a passport since I used mine each time I had biometrics done.

You may wish to call the information line and ask them if you can get the biometrics done without a passport, but I suspect that answer will be no.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I know that even a State ID is good. On the appointment receipt they list all of the documents that they accept as a proof of identity. Just call them to be 100% sure.

Good Luck
