Amy's coming up for a week in July and we want to go to Ottawa and Montreal while she's here. Does anyone have any suggestions about places to see or things to do? We're also thinking about camping or going swimming or something.

Absolutely - Kingston and the Thousand Islands - it is about 2 hours drive from Ottawa on the shores of Lake Ontario. It is an absolutely beautiful city - and one of the oldest in Canada - it celebrated its tercentennary over 35 years ago. You can take a Riverboat tour of the Thousand Islands, have dinner on the water, visit Old Fort Henry (built to defend Canada during the War of 1812), lots of museums and historic sites, some beautiful landscape, great shopping, artisan's and craftspeople boutiques, excellent restaurants, a super Farmer's market - and lots of other things to see/do along the way. You can visit old Portsmouth Harbour where the 1976 sailing olympics were held, take a ferry (for free) over to Wolfe Island, lots and much more:-). In Ottawa, you will want to tour the Parliament buildings, and the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Byward Market - and possibly take a drive over in Quebec in the shade of the Gatineau Mountains.

Montreal is one of the most fun cities in Canada...great restaurants, lots of different festivals in the summer (Just For Laughs, Jazzfest, International Fireworks displays, the old port fun, just to mention a few). The underground city is something to behold, as well as the Mount Royal lookout. Montreal has an awful lot to offer to anyone looking to explore...Have a great time!

Ottawa is my true love. No, seriously! There is nothing you need to "go to see", just take a walk downtown. You will see everything you need to see there and soak in the european flavour if our capital city! Lots of cafes, buildings, and shopping to do. The glebe is also a great place to walk.

By downtown I mean Rue Bank, Rue Elgin, Rue Rideau and Rue Wellington. I promise you will not be sorry if you take a few days in Ottawa. It's gorgeous.

I absolutely loved going camping with my wife all over SouthEastern Ontario. My wife and I would sometimes just sleep in my Commander and bring a few chairs. The scenery and experience was always great :)

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

All great suggetstions. Thanks!! Looking for cheap things to do mainly. Need to save all my money for the move and paying off debt before I leave for Texas :)

Does anyone know if any good tubing places? I know about Elora Gorge, but it's sort of our of the way. We are looking for other possible water tubing going towards Montreal.

there's white water river tours along the Ottawa River. I think they have day trips as well as ween-end and week long camping trips. Dunno any company names though, sorry.
