The Child will`get a K2 visa in the passport the same as your fiance did, probably a pack to hand in at POE too!!

The child will most likely need a passport. Although some countries do allow minor children to travel on the parent's passport. The child will need at a minimum, birth certificate, visa application photos, visa fee, visa application form and have a medical exam.

There will only be one big brown envolpe which is given to the K-1 and everyone's paperwork will be in it.

What happens though in the case as the OP said, 'I plan on bringing the 4 year old over to the states within a year'. If the child is travelling after the mother has already entered on the K-1.

This was what i thought you meant...........the child will travel after, so wouldnt there need to be a seperate envelope for POE purposes??

http://foia.state.gov/masterdocs/09fam/0941081PN.pdf

9 FAM 41.81 PN4 Supporting Documents Hand-carried by Applicant

9 FAM 41.81 PN4.1 Documents Placed in Envelope (TL:VISA-346; 01-14-2002)

Supporting documents, including the K visa petition, birth certificate, duplicate Form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-156K, Nonimmigrant Fiancé Visa Application (including the certificate of legal capacity and intent to marry), and Form DS-2053, Medical Examination for Immigrant or Refugee Applicant (in duplicate), and the Form DS-3025, Vaccination Documentation Worksheet, should be placed in a sealed envelope and given to the applicant for presentation at the port of entry. (A copy of Form DS-2053 is also to be retained in the applicant’s issued visa file.) Any documents for accompanying children are to be enclosed in the envelope containing the parent’s documentation.

9 FAM 41.81 PN4.3 Child of a K-1 (TL:VISA-324; 10-10-2001)

In the case of children following-to-join the principal alien who are entitled to K-2 classification, the required documents are to be placed in an envelope together with a copy of the approved K visa petition. A notation of the principal alien’s name and date of visa issuance is to be made immediately below the lower margin of the visa stamp. For example, “Principal alien: Mary Brown, K-1 visa issued November 16, 2000.”

Plus this probably also answers the question about a K-1 child's I-94 having an A# written PA XXX XXX XXX with the same A# as the parent. PA stands for principal alien.

Euro was right in her first reply on this thread.

The K-2 exercising "follow to join" benefits, will have the visa in their passport (with all necessary annotations relating to the original K-1) and the brown envelope.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

Euro,

In which case I appologize for challenging your supposition. I don't know for sure, but I suspect you are correct that a K2 who is following to join may have their own 'brown envelope'.
