Excellent job Loto, as usual

I will read your document and send you my comments over the weekend.

After just skimming through: you write that, after getting NOA1 for I-130, people can also file I-129F. I would add that they should only do this if they want the non-immigrant visa K-3 (it's obvious now, but I remember that, when new to all this, it is all a bit foggy and this can be confusing).

And I agree with one of the previous posters: when we were still thinking about the immigrant visa path (after our I-130 also got approved), your clear overview made it SO much easier for us. I hope you will stay active on this site to help future filers.

Take care!

Cat

Cat (F) I'll wait for your feedback. Also, I might be in VJ (I wanted to see how my friends are doing and their interview, family re-union etc...) off and on. I would like to spend some time with my wife once she joins here, may be, it may be my initial thoughts, probably, I'll get more time after our honeymoon period is over... I hope my wife will not read it :star:

I have created a very basic (generic) guide for IR1/CR1 visa.

Please review it and let me know your comments. I'll incorporate all your points and publish a FINAL version in couple of days time.

Thank you so much for your participation !!!

Loto,

You are doing a great job. This clarifies a lot of confusions. Thanks for your time and willingness to help  .

A quick question: does this apply to K3 too? in case it's approved before IR1/CR1, Thanks in advance

Loto, you mention that I-129 or rather K3 visa is free, which I thought was not the case. Since VSC forced us through CR1 by approving just I-130 we got the I-129 fee waived off, if it wasn't the case I presume we would have paid the I-129(K3) visa fee and got that processed first. Isn't that the case, am I missing something here.

Secondly, do you know if NVC assigns the interview date and then sends the case to the consulate. If this is true, it would be nice to add this too.

On a general note, while i look at the document it feels as though all this will happen in the first few months which is not the case and while most of us have been waiting around an year now. Probably a disclaimer in the document will help people set the right expectation.

Neethope, For married people I-129F cannot be filed without underlying I-130 petition. Direct I-129F filing is for K-1 visa and they have to pay I-129F filing fee.

I'll add your 2 other suggestions - yes, NVC assigns the interview date if it is appointment post. Also, I'll provide a true timeframe for USCIS process in the disclaimer.

Thanks for your feedback (F)

Loto, I understand your point that for spouse visa it can't be plain I-129F, probably I was not clear enough in my earlier post  . I was referring to K3 Spouse visa with I-130 filed first and then I -129F where you get a non-immigrant visa and file for your AOS in U.S. But since the tile of your guide is for IR1 or CR1, I think you can omit going detail into it. If you like to mention as a note that I-129F is for K3 non-immigrant visa here is the VJ link for that process http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...amp;page=k3flow

That's right neethope (F) Since I was more focusing on IR1/CR1 visa, we can add a link to K-3 guide, good suggestion (L)

My idea was to prepare this guide was only for IR1/CR1 and it should be very generic and simple step-by-steps for all people (newbies as well as experienced)... Actually, all these details are there in all immigration sites, but scattered, so a newbie will definitely be confused. Now, a single doc will tell him/her what to do from I-130 filing to the U.S POE.

Lotto,

Can you add something with your step by step process about Affidavit of support.

I will let you know something briefly about my own case, our visa process has been pretty smooth till now, but when me and my husband met for the first time online and then a relationship began and he started to look through immigration process, what really stuck us was the 125% of poverty guideline, there was it stating for 2 people 125% is 16k (talking about 2003-04) and I dont know why or how me and my husband were counting it as add 125% to that 16k amount, so that would mean add 20k to 16k thats 36k, and that time around my hubby was earning 19k per year, so he was above 125% of poverty line, anyways just keeping it short thats what hampered our whole time frame, we basically lived these 4 years of LDR because of that one silly mistake.

So if you can just keep it more clarified and I really wish no other couple would do such mistake like we did.

Thanks again for the good work

I am more (hope so) stronger than her

She is just the total weight of one hand luggage (7KG) + 2 check-in luggages (23*2 = 46KG), that she brings here :rofl::rofl: It is 116 lbs!
