Hi all,

I now understand what a Visa Journey means :( it's a journey for sure, a slow one too.

We did DCF on May 9th at the US Embassy here in London and are now waiting patiently but how do I explain a 14 and a 10 year old that they won't be able to start their new school in the states at the same time as everybody else because of the visas. We have all the documents ready, just waiting for the NOA2 or something, anything to get the ball rolling.

Because of my husband's job we've had to move several times in the past few years and I am feeling very guilty for having to move the girls again, especially the 14 year old one. It's such a difficult age without having to change schools every year but we are hoping that after this time we will not have to move again for a very long time.

I found out today that her new school in the states starts on Aug the 19th and I don't think there's a chance at all that we will get the visas before then.

Sorry for the whine, just feeling a bit down today.

I know it is is hard....but try to look on the positive side....DCF London has one of the fastest processing times, many here wait far far longer for their journey to end and get that visa. When I feel frustrated I try to remember how lucky I am just to be DCFing at London.

My son will also miss the start of the school year in the States as we filed also in May, but children recover quickly....I moved school as a child every few years as my father was in the military, it took a month or so each time for me to settle, but i did.

Hope time passes quickly for you....one day this will be just a memory

When you return the packet 3 forms, make sure to put down the date that you would like to move, they don't always accomodate, but sometimes they do. It's worth a shot! :star:

Definitely! I would even include a short, polite note saying that the school your children will be attending starts on August 19th and express how much you would appreciate it if they were able to start as close to the start of the year as possible. Also having everything ready to return the DS-230 and checklist as soon as you receive Packet 3 can help.
