Happy Mother's Day, Mom

This particular day has been a very hard for me since my mother passed away at 53 years old 12 years ago.

I was very close to my mother and I miss her terribly and still cry for her at times even after all this time. She was a good mom, she raised me and my 2 younger siblings all on her own and I never really realized all the sacrifices she had to make for us until I became a Mom myself. She went without a lot so that me and my bro and sis could have the little things that make kids happy.

I have so many wonderful memories of her, but hell I wish so much that she was still here.

So this one's for you, Beverley Bennett - Happy Mother's Day Mom, I love you. (L)

Please feel free to make this thread a tribute to YOUR Mom, whether she is no longer with us or if you are so lucky to be able to give her a hug and kiss or hear her voice today! (F)

*hugs* Sharon.

I was having a long talk to my mom tonight on the phone (mothers day is almost over here in Australia). I dont get to see her very often as she lives some distance from me and soon it will be a lot further :( My mom has given myself and my siblings so much over the years. We were poor when I was growing up, but we never knew it because of the love and the values she gave & taught us. She worked long nights sewing for others to give us the little she could. She made home icecream when all the other kids in the street would buy Mr Whippy from the home icecream van. She was amazing at making meals from anything she could put her hands on. We reminisced a lot tonight....and it was wonderful remembering and having a bit of a laugh in hindsight of just how difficult things really were. My mom helped me grow into the person I am today. And I am proud of who I am.......I AM PROUD OF MY MOM.

I love you mom (L)(F)(L)

awwww sweet, you guys... I agree..Mom's the best.

I have a wonderful, caring mom who always puts her kids in front of herself. I've never gone without anything I've NEEDED, because if it's impossible for me at the time, my mom makes it happen. I don't know what I would have done without her being there for me, advising me, uplifting me, and on and on and on...over the years. She and my dad have been the only solid as a rock people in my life since I was born(as only parent can be) and that continues now, even tho I'm nearly 34 years old. I realize many days that so many people aren't so blessed, and I feel extremely so to have the mom(and dad) that I do. Happy HAPPY Mother's Day indeed!! :) M.

Sharon, my deepest condolences....I've lost my grandmother who was a second mother to me. She lived with us and raised me alongside my parents. She passed 8 years ago at the age of 72 and my heart will always be broken.

BABY RAY, YOU ARE MISSED! I love you! Rest in peace until we meet again.

Now, for my mother...my mother is the best mother there could possibly be. I was immensely blessed from God to have her as my mother. She has put her all into raising me, sacrificed herself, kept on top of me growing up, kept me out of trouble, directed me on the best path. She lived for me. Now that I'm older, she doesnt' live for me like that anymore, which is good! But my mother and I have transcended just mother/daughter and we have been best friends now for ages. There is nothing more beautiful to me than to see the smile on her face and the light in her eyes. WE have been there for each other and have clung to each other in times of desparation & loss, and I would gladly lay my life down for her in a heartbeat.

But I am the woman I am today because of these two women. My song to my mother and my grandmother always will be 'Because you Loved me' by Celine. Now as much as I can't stand her & think she (celine) looks like a strangled chicken, there is no better song for them than this:

This is for Baby Ray and my Mom:

For all those times you stood by me

For all the truth that you made me see

For all the joy you brought to my life

For all the wrong that you made right

For every dream you made come true

For all the love I found in you

I'll be forever thankful baby

You're the one who held me up

Never let me fall

You're the one who saw me through through it all

You were my strength when I was weak

You were my voice when I couldn't speak

You were my eyes when I couldn't see

You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when I couldn't reach

You gave me faith 'coz you believed

I'm everything I am

Because you loved me

You gave me wings and made me fly

You touched my hand I could touch the sky

I lost my faith, you gave it back to me

You said no star was out of reach

You stood by me and I stood tall

I had your love I had it all

I'm grateful for each day you gave me

Maybe I don't know that much

But I know this much is true

I was blessed because I was loved by you

You were my strength when I was weak

You were my voice when I couldn't speak

You were my eyes when I couldn't see

You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when I couldn't reach

You gave me faith 'coz you believed

I'm everything I am

Because you loved me

You were always there for me

The tender wind that carried me

A light in the dark shining your love into my life

You've been my inspiration

Through the lies you were the truth

My world is a better place because of you

You were my strength when I was weak

You were my voice when I couldn't speak

You were my eyes when I couldn't see

You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when I couldn't reach

You gave me faith 'coz you believed

I'm everything I am

Because you loved me

I'm everything I am

Because you loved me

Thank you Sharon. I appreciate you posting this, possibly more than I can say. (F)

I can't say anything else, this day is just too hard for me. You said a lot of what's in my heart for my own Mom.

Electricity is really just organized lightning.

My country have their own Mother's Day, which is on December 22. But today I find missing my mom so much and I am grateful to be blessed with two wonderful mothers now. Here's what I wrote for them last night:

FOR MY MOTHERS

Today I raise my glass

Salute them for their classes

Sending them my prayers

For the beautiful traces they left in my heart

Today my mind wonders away

Replaying all those memories stored

Of the women who raised me with her amazing way

Picturing all the rewards she suppose to received

As I sit here thousands miles from her shore

Recollections of her sweet smell still embrace

Remembering how she shape my core

You are always near my mother

It takes so long to learn

But now I understand

Her love and loyalty never burn out

You are always there to lean on

Today my heart feels swollen

As I am blessed to have not one but two

Two great woman who has stolen my love

And it has immensely grew

One I haven’t met thus far

Yet she opens her heart wider than her arms

Her love shines brighter than any star

Her ways are full of charms

Never thought I’d be this blessed

To found another women I could love this much

Having two of the best

That inspires me to be better

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MAMA & MOM

I love you both so very much! (L)(F)

wow... mothers day on dec 22nd.. strange.

Yep the history behind it was on December 22, 1928 the first Indonesian Woman Congress was held attended by pretty much all of the woman's movement. On the 3rd Congress (1938), they proclamate that December 22 is the National Mother's Day in Indonesia.

Same here....Mothers' Day is hard for me as my mom passed away 3 years ago when I was 28. I miss her every day, but on special days like this one it comforts me to know that there are many out there who understand. I know that our departed moms are watching over us :star:

My thoughts are with everyone who has lost their mom too soon.
