Onelis' baby sister Haley described the home invasion which took place on January 1st, 2008 in their modest Los Cedros home - just south of Barranquilla in a bustling bedroom community known as 'Soledad'.

Haley explained while we played with her Christmas doll in their backyard terraza or terrace, how the man walked in and immedately began to attack her brother Hans. Hans disarmed the attacker, and beat the guy while the father (Julio) pounded him with a baseball bat. Haley's/Onelis' mother Osaida got out the family Machete and came very close to taking the guys left arm completely off.

I never saw such action in my life. The reputation of Los Cedros preceeds the place. When you tell a cab driver that you need a ride to Los Cedros at night, GOOD LUCK. Most taxi drivers won't even bother driving down Onelis' street (Calle 72). Very narrow street combined with lots of unemployed youths, and the place is a complete maze when you try to get out.

The day before this video was made, I witnessed a young couple break up on her street. A young woman threw broken glass at the ground outside the house while the young man reached through the barred windows for her hair in an attempt to pull her hair/break her neck. The amount of violence this place produced was amazing. Just like us Americans watch movies to get our dose of violence when we are teens, this place produces it all on its' own. I recently saw a movie which captured the same kind of strife in the favelas of Brazil called "City of God". Same kind of place, just the setting was Rio de Janero, not Barranquilla, Colombia. RENT IT!

Here's Haley:

City of God is one of my all time favorite movies. It was so disturbing and compelling. :thumbs:

::Quick Update::

Carl from South Florida wrote me a quick note and sent me some photos. His fiance from Barranquilla arrived a week or so ago, and they have been happy ever since. Their Visa was approved, and they plan to live happily ever after! :dance:

Carl utilized Maria for paperwork assistance from Maria's office in Barranquilla. He told me about Maria being able to "track down Onelis" and this is where the thread originated from CONGRATULATIONS CARL AND STEFANIE!!

Background: Leidys happens to be "jealous" of other women. Her question last night took me back to my Tuesday meeting with Onelis.

Question: "If Onelis comes to your hotel when you return in December, what will you do?"

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

I thought this one over...On the Tuesday of my visit, things didn't quite go as expected. I realized, I had been wasting my time. In the lobby of the hotel, I gave Onelis 20,000 Pesos so that she could catch a cab (or two around Barranquilla) and to not come back again. Hopefully, the people at Hotel Caribbean Gold will help me keep a low profile, and not give away the fact that I will be there for 2 weeks.

Question: What would you do if she dropped in on you?

By the way, Ken, a mail order brides website? That's where that image is from. You can do better. Mail order brides are for losers.

i think it would be a good idea to keep a low profile and stay somewhere else. a place preferably with bouncers.
