I'm baaaaack!

8 days flew by so fast, here are a couple of photos to get the thread started back again. On the return flight, most everyone was sick, coughing, sneezing, etc. I have been very ill ever since returning so I have to keep resting. Here we go.

Hard times on the Atlantic Ocean for families at these fishing villages. Mom, Leidys and I traveled by Motorcoach to Santa Marta del Rodadero (2 hours north of Barranquilla). Some people live in very primitive housing as shown in these photos.

My Mother had been raised in complete poverty in the Jim Crow South. Born at home, her house was later bulldozed in the early 80s. I faintly remember the house as a small boy before it was demolished and turned into a city services parking lot. There was not much for her to go back to as most of her siblings have now passed, and her only brother now has Dementia.

Ken... any plans for New Years?

We will likely be on the beach in Santa Marta. TBO I'd prefer to pass it in calm in Tayrona but its looking like Rodadero for us as well.

Jesus' family business had been the Nice Space Internet Cafe where I hung out, typing away at the, "Where Did She Go?" thread while in Barranquilla. Here, I paid a small amount for time on the compuer, or to make phone calls in town.

Now, Jesus was bit by the fitness bug as shown in these photos. We got together after Leidys had gone back home, and we hit the Pool Hall, just across the street from the Caribbean Gold Hotel.

After saying "Hi" to his Mother - who doubled as the, "Cleaning Lady" at Nice Space when it was open for business, Jesus and I hit the Pool Hall.

We played a few games of Pool which was plenty of fun. Jesus had never played Pool before - at $1.50 per game, it was a small amount to learn on.

Jesus was a natural. He blew me away by the 2nd game. Never underestimate your opponents - even if it is their first time ever playing.

Happy to see you back safe Ken. It was awesome that you could take your mom along, and no small thing for her to go I'm sure. Keep the pics and story coming, and feel better. We're all waiting on ya.

My heart goes out to you. I live in Florida and I lost communication with Naty during Hurricane Wilma for 2 weeks. - The electric was out for I think 19 days. I had no cell signal, I could not get her info from my computer. She was worried sick and thought I had been injured.

I hope she surfaces soon bro. Hang in there.

Ken... any plans for New Years?

Tayrona and the Guajira Desert would be at the top of my list, but we'll probably spend that time in Las Vegas, NV or in the nearby Death Valley National Park instead. Just waiting on that K-1 NOA2 - Adj. should be by August 15th.

hopefully you know someone there? i personally don't like it, a good buddy of mine lives there and i always feel so uncomfortable when i head out there.....people are extremely judgemental and pretentious.

Word! I would much rather hang out where the people are real and friendly, and even Real Friendly. That uppity-puppity-stuffity attitude gets old quick!
