Where did she go?

This morning, I was in a panic - "What if she showed up?" was my thinking. I called a mutual friend, and this friend hasn't heard from Suzanne in exactly 2 years. Last night, another mutual friend told me the same thing - no returned emails, no returned phone calls, nothing.

At the viewing, I kept looking around as people walked in the Chapel. Friends appeared from my childhood - co-workers from my mother's years in Education - relatives from Baltimore, Knoxville, but thankfully, no ex-wife!

Had Suzanne shown up today, I would have actually welcomed her, but my mother and brothers might have been puzzled, perhaps indifferent, but not welcoming.

Thanks VJ'ers for your opinions. Tomorrow is the burial, and I feel we're half way there to starting the healing process.

p.s. - Mom looked sad when she said she didn't know what to do this year for Christmas. "Colombia?" I suggested in front of everyone. "No!" She countered. Then ironically, "...well, maybe not. I don't know..." Mom's tone has completely changed recently. :wow:

my sincere condolences ken.

Ken, I bet that is pretty difficult with the ex situation. My ex wanted to say sorry to me for all that shes caused but I was blind to hear it. You may not want to hear that persons words but everyone makes mistakes. Let your ex say her few words but make it clearly known that you have moved on and treat her as if you would a passing friend. Theres no need to be angry or cold about it but she is not the most important person in your life any longer so you do not have to show that to her. In fact, you can say you have to call your fiancee soon and you don't have time to talk at the moment. Anyways man, what parts of barranquilla are a no no? Im about to go over there and was worried by some of your earlier entries of some crooked people running amok down there targetting americans. I don't want to try to get caught up in that and my spanish is horrible so I want to try not to get singled out even by accident. I have to keep my chances of that happening very low... lol.

CaliboyLost,

I tried being civil with the exwife, but because of her disease, she takes this medication (Prednizone) that causes memory loss. She can't remember all of the BS she caused in the past. When I remind her, she gets all surprised and says, "I said that?" She isn't worth it. Rumors were flying around that she was at the funeral. She was somehow confused with my cousin from Barstow.

The one thing I have to thank the exwife for is helping bring my family close together after the divorce. My father came by and talked to me anytime I needed him to. He was a great friend I will always miss. So, the exwife helped in some ways.

Stay strong Ken. Most things in life are easier to look at in the rear view. Time heals dude.

I now have my petition 100% ready to mail out!! Dad would have been proud of me for this. As I stood over that table at Kinkos/FedEx, my neck and back aching with a dull pain, I thought of my determination to spend every available moment with my father until the very end. I didn't care how long it took.

Reviewing the paperwork for Leidys and I - two hours went by, and I gained the courage to take my package to the counter. "FedEx cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes...We're sorry." I was told. WHAT??? :crying: I guess it will be an early wakeup for me as I run to the Post Office on my way to work tomorrow.

Right before leaving for Kinko's this evening, my mother gazed at me and thanked God that her friend was spending the week with her. "Without my friend, I don't know what I would do here all alone, Ken." If Leidys were here, my mother would have a new friend to visit with everyday while I was at work. Perhaps, that is what my father saw in Leidys as he looked over the photos I showed him after we cleaned the pool together in early March.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
