Our secret

At noon you called to wish me a good Saturday. "When will you be stopping by?" you asked. "Oh, later. I have so many things to do, today." Like a best friend, you always interject a playful quality when you call. But, when I decline a visit, or tell you, "Later, I am busy today", you seem to sadden a little as if the time is growing shorter.

"How are things going between you and Leidys?" you asked. "Great!"

"And, when do you think you'll start...the papers on her?" you asked. "Uh, later this week, I hope." "Great!" you proclaimed. My mind darted around on tangents related to papers, filing times, fees, etc.

The final question - "How much do you think it will cost you to bring her over here?" I gave a lowball estimate, just to keep the conversation lively, not too heavy, and we soon said our, "Goodbye's"...

-+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=--+=-

Exactly nine hours later, I am at your bedside, looking across at my mother in the same building you dropped her and I off at 40 years ago. In half an hour, you learned of my arrival, and back again you traveled to welcome me into this world we share.

Time has now began to stand still. Your Pancreas and Liver have caused the unusual bloating of your stomach. Your cheerfulness has actually hidden the pain you spent, walking around the house while others slept. In too much pain to lie down, because this swelling hid a time bomb beneath layers of tissue and blood. You smiled when I asked you, "Aren't you glad I visited Leidys in February and not April like you said I should have?" You raised a finger as if to quiet me from your hospital bed. Mom wasn't too keen with me pursuing another Visa Journey after the fiasco caused by Onelis. So, we are going to keep it exactly that, our secret.

I plan on completing my packet this week, and requesting that these materials be rushed through the pipeline. Because, a dying man who gave me life asked about my Leidys today.

Good Lord...I can't believe I just spent an hour reading up on this thread that I ran across....only to make it to page 20 and then think "hmm, I should check to see how far this goes..." :o

So, back on page 11 this was my fave quote "Hot and sweet. Dark, and framed in porcelain - a hint of steam rising" now those are some words ;)

I hate to ask, but is there a recap or summary someplace or do I have to actually read everything between 20 and 140 to see who is involved and who Ken is with now?

I'm addicted like so many others here.....

sorry brother ken.... (F)

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

The obviously bad news is that my father is most likely terminal.

The good news is that he is regaining his strength at the moment, and we are spending TONS of quality time together in the hospital. This morning, I fed him breakfast. This evening, I shaved his face after feeding him dinner. He told my mother and I, "Without my family, I would have nothing."

Yesterday was tough, however. Dad kept lamenting about how he wanted more Grandchildren. He asked about Leidys, the Visa process, and I shared all about it. He worries that he will not live long enough to meet her when this visa process is complete. No guarantees to life. Just family loving him.

After feeding my father breakfast tomorrow, I will begin work on my K-1 Visa. I hope to have it prepared for mailing out on Sunday. My wish is that my father and Leidys can meet before he passes away.

Las Vegas 2005 (+ 30 pounds) w/dad. He wanted to visit Leidys' family in Barranquilla, and see what all the fuss was about the good food and drink in this South American city.
