Baja Mexico has some of the best Mariscos I have ever tasted - and, the prices are exactly what makes me love returning there for such world-class Tacos. Browsing the website for the Barranquilla daily newspaper El Heraldo, I came across this (Spanish-language) article that boasted complete breakfasts and lunchs for just under $1 USD.

En Barranquilla, se come con $2,000 pesos COP

Check out these prices...(14 (Mexican) pesos to $1 USD).

The seafood in Baja, Mexico is very safe. Avoid all chicken when in Developing countries, but enjoy the seafood. In Lima, Peru - I had a chicken teriaki dish that had me feeling like death warmed over all night long. In Barranquilla, I had chicken rotisserie similar to El Pollo Loco, and I never got sick. However, when visiting with Onelis, I had a brief bout of food poisoning after eating chicken-flavored pasteries from a street vendor in her Los Cedros barrio.

Just like my hero Andrew Bourdain always says - "Don't eat the chicken."

Congratulations on reading the thread! In just a few days, it gets a much-needed update.

When I first met Onelis, my Spanish was virtually non-existant. I owe it to my co-workers - one from Estelli, Nicaragua and the other from Zacatecas, Mexico for helping me each day, along with a 1st year College textbook (Spanish Vocab/Grammar) I had saved over the years.

I spoke with Onelis on the telephone from August through November, but my greatest leap in speaking the language came by March of that following year (2008). By July, my Spanish had reached a level that I felt comfortable speaking in public, and people who met me kept asking, "What part of town do you come from?"

When I eventually met Leidys, there was absolutely no down-time - We were able to communicate instantly.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Ah the famous corrientazo lunch... completely safe as its basically a large 'home' kitchen doing the cooking. At lunchtime in Colombia, follow the lower level managers at any company to their favorite corrientazo joint for a good lunch at prices like Ken mentions.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I think he explained that he has to wait until the year is up.. you can only change your name once a year.. and I think he also stated that he asked Ewok to change it but Ewok told him to wait...
