I explained that the prices are economical, the staff friendly, and the location, ideal. She mentioned, "Onelis will be looking for you there in December. She will find you. And that woman gave you eyes of amor!"

My new gf was concerned about me staying at the Caribbean Gold on my next trip. My friend Sandy had other opinions of my trips near the equator. "Get yourself a pre-nup, right away!" "The first thing she will want is for her father, mother, sister, brother, aunt, and who knows what other border-jumper will also want to come up north." "Border-jumper?" I thought... This is one of those loaded Fox News kinds of words. A hate-filled noun used the by far-right to describe non-white immigrants - both legal and non-legal who enter the United States looking for a more prosperous future. I stopped paying attention to my friends diatribe once that word hit my ears.

The Colombia I know doesn't inhabit the minds and lips of AM Radio talkshow hosts. It is a place where the good life is easily afforded by people like myself - hard-working, middle-class Americans that can no longer afford travel in their own country.

My new gf contacted Maria this morning. She told me happily that Maria is working to establish an agency where sincere Barranquilleras can meet with respectable gentlemen from North America (primarily), to meet, become engaged, and possibly marry. This is an industry which does brisk business in Colombia.

Maria simply wants a piece of the pie. Leidys quickly joked about setting up her profile with Maria's new agency, but immediately checked to see if I understood that she was only joking. Maria described me as, "Respectable, serious, and also intelligent." Leidys knows all of these qualities exist in her new boyfriend, and she quickly warmed up to Maria - someone she originally worried about meeting.

"Maria has many women on her client list. She wants to know how many single women I know." I offered the name of the hotel employee that stared at me on my first day, during my hotel stay. This bothered Leidys to no end. I know she is jealous. Jealousy runs through the veins of costeñas, supplying their hearts and minds with the necessary venom to strike when appropriately provoked.

I didn't promise that I would not stay at Caribbean Gold, but I did not rule it out, either.

With California being a "No-Fault" state, it makes literally no difference. Yesterday, Sandy told me my pre-nuptual needs to state that I will not allow in-laws from Colombia to come to the United States. Sorry, but I haven't been listening to Rush Limbaugh lately. Maybe I need to get my daily dosage. But, I had to sign off of Sandy and his far-right advice. No sirve, nada. I plan to take my time going into this relationship, with my eyes wide open. No rush. Just careful steps taken.

This morning, I spoke with Maria. Her matrimony agency in Barranquilla got an unexpected infusion of American funds, and now, she plans to open for business. I offered to help, and she plans to make me her, "Contact Person" in the United States. Funny, but she told me that clients will call me asking if Maria is, "Real" or "Imaginary". My job will be to explain how Maria assisted me in late June when I initially asked the question, "Where did she go?"

Maria is now extremely upbeat about her agency getting off of the ground. This is great news, and I can't wait to see how far she can take it.

After doing chores all day, I cook dinner, talk to Leidys using a $5 calling card, and then I go on-line before going to sleep. At 8 a.m., I'm getting my haircut in my barber's garage. Gotta have that look all week!
