What is your location now in the US? I had my passport ammended to have my married name reflected on it and at the same time report my marriage to the Philippine Embassy in Washington . All the forms are in the website and you can fill them up online and print them , and the instructions on where to send it and how much to pay are all there. You can probably send your application to the Philippine Embassy in Washington just like mine.

Goodluck!!

I actually didn't know about this, that I have to report the marriage to the Philippine Embassy and the latter will be the one to submit the documentation to the Philippine NSO so our marriage here will also be recorded in the Philippines. I was adviced by a friend who went through the same process and she said that I might as well amend my passport to change my unmarried surname with the report of my marriage so it will just be one process.

Is it a strict requirement to report marriage to the Philippine Embassy? And is there any time limit to report it? I'd like to wait until after my AOS in case I'll be needing my passport while it is in process. Thanks.

HI Myla,

I have also a problem regarding on how to report marriage. I got married last April 2008 in Georgia, USA..and i went back home in philippines for some reason and wasn't able to change my status (im not a K1)there after i got married to american citizen. Before my visa expired i went back to philippines.and my husband filed a cr1 and k3 petition for me. And we already got NOA1 for both petitions.

My problem is we didnt report our marriage there in US. And when i went to DFA last day the other staff told me that i can register our marriage to the consular record of DFA and they will be the one to forward it to NSO. But, I found out lately after calling to NSO that if i am going to report our marriage at DFA the DFA will be the one to send it back to Philippine consulate in Washington and the Phil.consulate their will forward our marriage report to the DFA, and DFA to NSO...

Im very much woried now,coz they said it will take 3-4 months before the NSO can get our marriage report and i cant change my status here and get new passport in my married name until the NSO will receive our marriage report from Philippine consulate in US..

Do you know if we can expidite our marriage report? Coz i need to get authenticated marriage certificate here in NSO soon as possible before my interview schedule at embassy, so i can change my passport into married name.

When you report your marriage how long it will take?...Do you know some other ways to report marriage? NEED SOME ADVICE,,i'll appreciate your help.GOD bless

I guess I have to report my marriage when I take my vacation in the Philippines. It's seems like, this would be another thing I have to do when I get there.

We reported our marriage, June, 2004, with the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC. The complete process took about two weeks. A few months later we amended my wife's passport through the same embassy, about three weeks. We filed reports to the embassy after the birth of both of our sons, one in April, 2005 and the latest in April, 2008 - about two weeks for each.

The Embassy of the Philippines is the only government organization, American or Filipino, with which we have had no problems or delays. Even when we made a mistake they phoned us and we mailed to them the requested info.

Now we are getting ready to renew her passport.
