Question on reciting the oath

I understand a speaker will state the oath with the recipient repeating the oath broken down into phrases. The first sentence is a mouthful and somewhat of a tongue twister with "potentate state".

"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate,

state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen;

that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic;

that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;

that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law;

that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law;

that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law;

and that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."

For those that have taken the oath, approximately how many words of each phrase are stated to be repeated? Did you practice saying the oath? Did you memorize the oath?

Ha, and after you repeated, "that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law;", were you issued a weapon? Would kind of like to receive a F-22 if there is a choice.

Well, it's when required by law. So the minute your local jurisdiction starts requiring citizens to carry weapons, then I'd imagine they'll issue one.

Ha, should have left off that comment about getting weapons, sometimes can't help myself with all the infringements on the second amendment that is also a very strong part of our Bill of Rights.

But am interested in the phraseology of the oath if anyone can share that experience. Does one have to recite say the entire first sentence? Or do they break it down into smaller phrases.
