ds-230 U.S. marriage certificate ok?

We were married in the U.S and obtain a U.S marriage certificate. Would that be accepted as a valid marriage certificate in the consulate in Israel. I was wondering if Israel required an Israel marriage certificate?

Are you dealing with the Israeli government or the US Government? Think about it.... Why would Israel care about a visa to the US issued by the US governement?

I think, its better to just submit the US one and if they ask for additional proof only then submit the other one.

Since you didn't submit the one from Isreal during the USCIS processing, that might raise questions about why you didn't submit that time, and also since USCIS didn't raise any question so hopefully NVC wouldn't either.

persons are the same, but place and date of marriage are not the same. the U.S marriage certificate was from our civil marriage in the U.S and then a year later (a few months after submitting I-130) we had a religious marriage in Israel.

persons are the same, but place and date of marriage are not the same. the U.S marriage certificate was from our civil marriage in the U.S and then a year later (a few months after submitting I-130) we had a religious marriage in Israel.

I doubted this was your case. In our case, it is also same, but only 1 day difference. Our religious marriage was on 11/14 and the civil marriage was on 11/15. I put 11/15 in all our applications and produced civil marriage certificate. However, in India, they might ask religious certificate too, so she has taken that. And she is ready to answer the date question accordingly.

So, you should stick with the date when you filed I-130 and at interview time, if officer asks, your beneficiary should answer properly. Having said that, you should send ONLY the marriage certificate where the date matches your I-130. Good luck

Religious marriage certificates are necessary only certain communities (Muslims, Christians etc.) in India. For all others, only civil document is necessary.

We belong to Muslim community, so we took marriage certificate from the head of the mosque too.
