Timeline
Joel and I met online as well. I had just separated from my ex (LONG story that one) and moved in with my mother who had just been diagnosed with recurrent breast cancer that had metastacised into her bones and lungs. There were no support groups in the area, and the one that I did find only met once a month for an hour. As I was researching the drugs being poured into my mom's body I came across a website that offered online support. Never being much of an online chatter, I was hesitant but decided to check it out. This was in April 2003. This group accepted me with "open" arms...virtually. These people knew exactly what I was feeling and understood them. In November 2003 "Fuzzness" came into the room...apparently he was a regular but I had not met him since I was not in there every day. He truly understood my fears, my anger, my confusion...he had lost his father less than two years before so he knew what I was going through...and would eventually go through. You know, I don't even remember what started it all, I remember being introduced to him and his words had a kindness that struck me. I don't remember who private messaged who first, but it doesn't really matter. We connected in a way I had never EVER connected with anyone else...and I know that sounds hokey but it's true. We started chatting privately (on mIRC) as friends...we both weren't looking for anything more. I was not done with my divorce at the time and he was just coming out of a bad relationship. Well, that friendship began to deepen, even though neither one of us would admit it for nothing! We met face to face in July 2004...my first time on a plane and out of the country! Momma thought I had lost my senses...but I wasn't nervous. I *knew* him. Anywho, that trip began a series of back and forth visits until he and I decided to marry and start this visa journey in 2005. He arrived here in 2006.

Momma eventually met him on several occasions...loved him...and gave us her blessings before she passed away just before our wedding. I was told long before I met Joel that sometimes good things come out of the saddest of circumstances. Momma was right it seems. (F)

Karen, what a beautiful story.. truly an amazing and wonderful way to start a life together.

We're in the good company of all the people who met while gaming. We met while playing World of Warcraft. We have found out since that we created our accounts within days of each other and we met in-game about two weeks after that...it's almost like fate was tired of waiting and pushed us together. :) Neither of us was looking for anything (I was dating a guy at the time who I broke up with about a year later). We met in person about 6 months after I broke up with the ex (no...Dennis wasn't the reason we broke up, we were still just friends when we met in person for the first time). When we were finally together in person fireworks went off and everything clicked. :)

We met in person, through work - he sells advertising and we were buyin' what he was sellin'...well, I was anyways!! My friend Vicky studied in Australia for the summer, where she met a British guy named Wayne at her hostel. He was backpacking through Australia that year. When Vicky showed me her Australia photos, I couldn't believe that she didn't hook up with this hot guy! They stayed in touch through emails. When Vicky and I planned our month long holiday in London, Wayne agreed to show us around. When we were planning our trip, Wayne had a girlfriend (much to my dismay), and I started dating someone too. But by the time Vicky and I got to London in April, Wayne and his girlfriend had broken up, and my relationship was on the rocks. We didn't intend to have a long distance relationship, we just hung out as much as possible while I was in London, and we had a really great time.

After I went home, we talked every day and I realized that he was sweeter and more interesting than any guys back home that I had dated. I owe it all to luck. I'm so lucky that Vicky and Wayne stayed at the same hostel!

Online - with a bit of a twist. I'm the Canadian, but have a lot of friends here in NC. I was staying with friends when I decided to check out the local personals.... wasn't looking for anything long-term, as I'd be heading back to Canada in a couple of months, but thought it would be nice to meet some friends for dinner, movies, hanging out on weekends, etc. I specifically posted "LOCAL ONLY" in my profile; then I get a sweet email from ths guy in upstate NY. Even after explaining that that I did not live in NC, was only visiting, he decided to drive all the way from NY to NC to meet me....... had a GREAT time together, but I was headed back to Canada, he back to NY. We kept in touch, and I actually returned to NC shortly thereafter to be baptized. Mr. NY once again drove all the way to NC to be with me at my baptism.... and the very day he was headed back up north, he got a call for a job offer in an NC town 2 hours from where I was staying with my friends! How's that for fate??!!! We saw each other every weekend, and the rest was history! He claims that he knew immediately that I was "the one" for him.... I was sort of in la-la-land, because the idea of getting married and moving to the US was not on my agenda. I was actually looking into overseas missions opportunities.... but God had a different plan for me, and brought this absolute angel into my life .... I could not be happier!!! (L) So I would say that our "initial contact" was online, but God arranged the rest so that we could have this wonderful life together :luv:

We met online in a Yahoo teen chatroom when we were both 15. We started chatting online regularly for about 2 years. Then we started talking on the phone every night for hours on end when we were 16/17. I seriously used to stay up alllll night to talk to him on the phone. Then when we were 19 we met in person in NYC. After chatting as friends for 4 years we knew that it was going to lead into something more and as soon as we met we were in love.

We've now been dating for almost 5 years long distance, been chatting for 9 years and are still going strong. I'm hoping to be there in March 2009.

Met online on a music message board for furtherseemsforever. I was one of the queen bees of the board and he immediately tried to take me down since I was drunk with internet power! haha I said that if he was such a hot shot he should post pictures of himself. He did, and I was like.."jesus...he's hot!"

I got up the courage to call him on the phone in november of 2004. By december we were talking every night. I went home from university to my parents house for Christmas and my parents were like, "oh jared called..who is jared??"

I took a greyhound from Ottawa, Ontario to Newark, NJ on the spur of the moment to meet him. Those 10 hours were some of the most nerve racking of my life. It was literally love at first sight, even if we already "knew" each other.

Many visits and a move later, here we are. :)

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Met my husband 9 years ago through work....we stayed as friends even though I got laid off.....got re-hired back into the same company and we started dating 3 years ago. Funny thing is that during our friendship he was in a long term relationship that didn't work out and I was previously engaged which didn't work out either.

We did not and have not advertised our relationship at work.

Funny thing is that I had a rule on not dating people at work. He was my exception! ;)

We met online playing cards (pinochle), I was cocooning with my computer after ending an awful marriage. We kept ending up as partners and I eventually asked if his nick was his first or last name? - he reponded 1st. Which in a few weeks led to are you male or female? - his response was M. Now almost 8 years later, we are getting ready to apply for our K1.
