This may have been done before but I didn't know what search would come up with this if so. If it's a repeat, hopefully it wasn't too recent so that maybe most people haven't seen it before.

We technically became slightly familiar with each other on a forum site, but I only posted there a couple of times before we met in person for the first time. I think we both were kinda intrigued by each other from our posts before we met, but it was when we first laid eyes on each other that there were definitely sparks so to speak. So really, I would have to say some of each.

Dammit! This was supposed to be a poll... I had the choices entered and everything. No idea where I went wrong but I will try to fix it!

Ok, not only can I not add the poll at this point, it also wont let me delete it and start over, or even edit it any further at this point. Apparently I suck at the internet :P

We met on a forum...the zwan message board. We're both MASSIVE Smashing Pumpkins fans, and that was Billy Corgan's band after the original SP lineup broke up. Luckily our love outlasted Zwan because they broke up a while back. :)

We just started as friends and nothing more, we didn't start dating while online, we both wanted to wait until we met. So we met and we fell in lurve and thats the end of that. We dated long distance for a year and then he came to Canada to live with me for two years and now I'm down here with him.

No dice - sorry. I met my fiance here in America at a dinner party. I do know several folks who met online, and later married (including my sister). No real recipe for success, each to his/her own! Good luck.

We met on City of Heroes...an online MMORG.

Neither of us were looking for anything...his character caught my eye, I private messaged him...we teamed for a bit...talked occasionally for months, then started talking more, then moved to MSN, video chatting, voice chatting...I was sooo smitten and finally he came to Canada to visit me for the first time in September 2006 and it was love at first kiss...actually...I loved him before I ever touched him.

It was meant to be <3

We met on EHarmony in Feb 2006, we commuted via email and phone for just a week and then met on the beach near my home for coffee, there was an instant connection! We were engaged in Oct 2006 and got married in June 2007.

Because I am just 5 minutes from the U.S. border and just a 1/2 hour drive from my husband, we have been able to see each other every weekend and usually a "date" night during the week since we met. We have been blessed that way. On July 21st, I will finally be going for my interview in Montreal.....3 weeks today.....can't wait!

Nice! My guy lived on the same street as Billy Corgan -- not sure whether it was where he grew up or where he lived at some time later or what, but it seems like an interesting trivia fact nonetheless.

We met online. :)

Copied from a previous post:

we met online in a Christian chat room. We were in the chatroom portion of the website (he had just joined the site about a week before our conversation) and the group of us were talking about how fun it would be to go on a world tour and visit everyone -- first we would start in Paris, France to see our friend AJ, then to London, England to see our friend Tim, than on to Nova Scotia to see me, and on and on. That's when Jerry piped up with "Nova Scotia? Isn't that near Germany?" and then I piped up with I said "ah yes, another Yankee who didn't pay attention in Geography class LOL" We all had a good laugh over it and moved on with the conversation. Soon after Jerry PM'ed me wanting to apologize for offending me (if he had) -- I told him that I should apologize for calling him a dumb yankee!......and I think we chatted for five hours that day. We literally were together from that point on.

We both posted on a poker forum (still do) and I got a xbox and was adding people who posted their gamertags on that site and he was one of them. He posting asking if it was really me or someone playing a joke, so I sent him a message confirming that it was me. We started bugging each other, all the time lol. So I guess its a combo of a forum and the xbox.

Yeah I have no doubt! When we met we had a number of obstacles that were significant enough that I kept thinking it was better to put him out of my mind and try to meet someone that I could reasonably be with (i.e. someone local, among other things), but any time I met someone I would subconsciously compare him to Jamie and no one else could even come close to measuring up. I gave up on that idea a couple of years ago. Five years later, I am still completely fascinated by him!

The question in my post came to mind after reading that someone had their interviewer remark that the majority of the cases they see are online meetings. The internet is obviously great for bringing people together that would never have crossed paths otherwise.

Glen and I actually work for the same company, him in the Philly office me in Toronto. We talked on the phone for about a year before we met, mostly for work and would just chat personally sometimes, he sounded really sweet... then his boss invited me to their office Christmas party in Dec. 2006, and I finally met him in person... We connected immediately and danced together, I didn't want to come back the next day! We started corresponding over e-mail/phone and he invited me back shortly thereafter... we have been going strong ever since! (L)

My Viktoria is from Ukraine, and there is no doubt that most American/Ukrainian couples meet online or through agencies. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with either of those - whatever works. We are totally prepared for the Vice Consul, and every one else to believe that I bought her from a catalog or something. The point is, it doesn't really matter what other people think. They cannot possibly know your heart. That you consciously tried to put him out of your mind and couldn't tells all.

We were Internet penpals. I was intrigued with the idea of the far North and actually had wanted to correspond with someone who lived in the Arctic. The website I went to allowed me to write to someone from Canada, but it didn't specify where they lived. So, I wrote to several interesting people (and one very scary dude who did live above the Arctic Circle) and learned more about their lives. There was something special about my hubby from the beginning, even though neither had been looking for romance. One night, after much alcohol, I suggested talking on the phone to hear each other's accents. We did, said, "whoa this is weird, we'll never do this again". 14 months later, we had been talking on the phone daily. We met in Atlanta and then spent a month road tripping up the East Coast. And the rest is history!!!
