So, does this happen only in FF? or is it happening in IE as well?

I would say try in IE, see if problem persists. If not, then it's the Browser. If it does, then try another application such as Word, or something that isn't linked with where it's happening.

You're on a laptop, check the manufacturer's site for any driver updates. While you may not have any specific software for the keyboard of the laptop, there may be a driver update that fixes this issue.

Look at your backspace key. See if anything is jammed underneath it. You can pop that key out.

I hate tech support. There's ignorance between the people who don't know how to do things, and then blaming the tech support people that they can't solve the problem.

Fixing a computer is not a concrete thing. Each problem may occur because of user error, or some other resource conflict. 90% of the problem occurs because it's user based, and the tech support is trying to correct the user error. Hardware is easier to correct since it's not the user fault. Doesn't anybody understand!? There's not very many incompetent tech supporters.

I checked all of the problem keys, they are clear. They work fine in other programs IE, Word.

if it is only happening in Firefox, then I suggest that you go on the Firefox tech message board, post the problem there and someone will anwser you.

Hope you slove your problem soon.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try to post there this morning. I'm headed out for the day soon.

If anyone else has other suggestions, please post and I'll try them out this evening. Thanks again, for all the responses!

Do you have the newest version of Firefox installed? Version 3 recently came out and it seems to work a lot better for me (and many other people) than the previous editions. I'd also recommend uninstalling FF, removing ALL TRACES of the browser (you'll have to go into "C:\Documents and Settings\[name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox" to do this) and if you have any bookmarks you're interested in keeping, make sure to save the "bookmarks.html" file before getting rid of the other data.

Once all of that is gone, install the new version or simply reinstall. It could just be your FF profile got corrupted. That can happen.

I am not sure if this has been asked but did you recently install any add-ons to Firefox?

Good thought, Marilyn. There are numerous FF add-ons that can cause problems for the browser. Interestingly enough, these don't always occur, but when they do, the issues can range from memory leaks and crashes to complete profile corruption. Needless to say, it's always a good idea to examine the reviews any add-on receives before downloading and installing it.

The only surefire way of troubleshooting an FF add-on problem is to disable each one one-by-one, restart your browser and see how it works. This will take a lot of time, but it might be worth it. If you can isolate the add-on that's giving you the headache (assuming that's the cause), then all you'll need to do is uninstall it from FF and that should solve your problem.
