So, I don't know what I've done but my computer is acting strange. When I'm on the internet (typing in search terms, using yahoo mail or g-mail, typing on VJ) my delete button doesn't work. And when I press backspace, it deletes 2 spaces instead of one. Also my home and end keys do not work. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

Everything works fine in Microsoft word...

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Reinstall your browser.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

: ( That didn't work. I'm embarrassed to admit its been like this for about 2 weeks now.

Reinstall your browser.

'Okay, I'll give it a try thanks.

Do you have a spare keyboard? If so plug it in and test it. If not, you'll need to borrow one from a neighbor or friend. At least rule out that it's not a hardware problem.

Okay, so I download Firefox3... no luck.

I don't think its a hardware issue. Those keys all function normally if I am in a word processing program, Microsoft Word

I have MacAfee antivirus...I did a manual check a week ago. I used my flash drive at a copy center. And the next time I used it on my laptop the MacAfee detected a virus. I removed it and ran it again a few days later...it was clean. I'll try again now to see if anything turns up.

Sorry. yes, I also have a anti-spyware program. SpywareStop.

Nope, no toolbars. And I don't use IE.

"any chance you've dumped your cache and bho's?"

No clue what that means or how to check. What do I need to do.

Also, I don't know what's going on, but when I copied and pasted that quote...it pasted it 2 times, eventhough I only pasted once. More disturbing developments...I've only experienced this today.

Virus scan still running.

Try going to tools then options then advanced the click on languages If you have anything you don't use get rid of it. If that help check to see if you have any strange processes running sometimes they like to keep running even when a program isn't in use. Have you sun a spyware program recently and are your virus definations current ?

Does your current keyboard come with any software? I know Microsoft and Logitech keyboards do and many others do as well. What you might want to do is locate the software and uninstall it (if you can't find a local uninstall EXE, go to the CONTROL PANEL and uninstall it from there).

Once that's gone, all the special functions on your keyboard will be gone, but if that software was causing any issues, those should have vanished as well. Your next step will be to download and install the newest version of the driver software for your keyboard. If your keyboard is old, I'd recommend doing this before uninstalling them or in a worst case scenario, reinstalling from the original installation CD. Either way, you'll have a fresh installation.

If none of that works, you may want to try a different keyboard entirely or perhaps another browser (Opera is good). Experiment with the many virus and spyware programs available on the Internet. Some are free and those that aren't usually offer trial versions. Those should be enough to fix the problem if it's related to a virus or spyware.

I'm using a laptop, no keyboard software. I'll try opera if this doesn't work out.
