My 7 yr. old was invited to a few birthday parties ....2 this past weekend and one the weekend before. Each child has a mailbox or cubby in the classroom and that is where the teachers ask the parents and students to place party invitations. It can be devastating to some children when they are left out from being invited to parties. If parents want it to be exclusive, they should be discreet and keep the exclusion outside the classroom.

That sounds like a cool idea.

We all want this perfect world for our children but it just isn't reality. The lessons we should teach our children is how to properly react when left out and to have enough self esteem that they are happy with themselves even if they are not always included. We all want everyone else to fix our problems instead of handling them ourselves.

I agree with that, but that's not the issue here. Parents should be expected to set an example to their kids and if a school has a policy regarding handing out invitations on school grounds, they should respect that policy. Was this boy's Birthday Party hurt by having the invitations confiscated for not following school policy? Of course not. I think some people react to reason behind the rule without realizing that schools have many rules on conduct that when looked at individually probably sound silly or overbearing.
