Fillable G-325a for purposes of I-129F; Multiple questions

I'm beginning to fill out and assemble my I-129F packet,.

I downloaded the fillable G-325a from the UCSIS website: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/g-325a.pdf and filled out one for myself and am helping my fiancee to fill out hers, but ran into some problems and questions, both from technical/computer standpoints and just general ones.

I'm hereby posting funny mock-copies of each (80 Kb .GIF) according to how I have them filled out (but with nonsense names, etc), and will ask the relevant questions, some of which are probably very stupid.

http://www.leethaxor.com/wmayarata/realima...325a-usa-xm.GIF -- This is the form I, the US Citizen, have filled out.

1. Is the capitalization okay? In other example forms, the family name was often CAPITALIZED.

2. For Citizenship/Nationality, "American" is acceptable?

3. Should I write "None" in the Other Names, Husband/Wife, Former Husband/Wife, File Number, etc other fields or leave them blank? If so, should "None" go into EVERY field of those requiring a name but which aren't applicable, or just one, like the way I have mine?

4. In the fillable form, it's not lining up the family names of my mother and father correctly, as displayed on some other forms. Should I space my father's name farther out so that it's properly aligned with mother's maiden name?

5. For my employer, do I combine everything onto one line as I did in the form, or have them on separate lines like is written on an envelope?

6. I was told on another visa site to, in the "THis form is submitted in connection with" area, to check Other, and write "In support of spouse's I-129F" in the field. On this site, however, it told me just to write "I-129F Petition." Which is correct? Or could I just write "I-129F?" I can't get "I-129F Petition" to fit fully (as you can see) in the fillable form, and there's no way in hell the longer description would fit, or if I could even write that small with a pen.

7.For "If native alphabet" blahblahblah, leave blank or put N/A?

8. For the bold-edged box on the bottom, do I, as an American citizen, fill this in? "None" for Alien Reg, or blank?

NEXT, http://www.leethaxor.com/wmayarata/realima...325a-hrv-xm.GIF - This is the one for my foreign fiancee.

1. My fiancee's last name contains an accent marked C (ć), which will not work in the fillable form. Should I add it in with a pen? And because of this, should I write the name in the "If native alphabet is in othe than Roman letters..." area?

2. My fiancee does NOT have any legal middle name. Should I leave this blank, or write N/A, or None? I certainly wouldn't want her name to become Ima None Kunavic. Is this a problem?

2. For her Province or State, put None, or N/A, or leave blank? Croatia has no states or provinces, really.

3. For the "this form is submitted in connectoin with," what should I write? This site said "I-129F Petition," which won't quite fit in the fillable form, and another site tells me to write "Fiance Visa Application." Would just "I-129F" or "K-1" work? Which?

4. For the bolded black box at the bottom, does she have an Alien Reg #? Also, same problem with the middle name.

That's it, thanks! I hope these annoying questions will be of use to others who may have questions in the future, and perhaps the mockup forms will also help. On this site, the "Example" for the form is only one version, apparently the one for the foreign fiancee to fill out.

I used the examples on this site, yes, but there's actually only one example, which seems to be for the foreign petitioner -- I have to fill one out, too, and both have different questions that can't really be answered by looking at that example.

You, the US Citizen are the petitioner. She's the beneficiary. Check our passport and you'll see your citizenship is United States of America, appropriately abbreviated as USA.

Put none or N/A as most appropriate when there is no answer. However, for a middle name, I advise ----. None is a real name in some languages.

Yes, you can hand write accents and in the black box. You can hand write anything and everything. Submit all four pages for each of you.

Mine has been approved and I got it out to compare. It looks exactly like yours for the most part so I will only answer differences.

LASTNAME Firstname Middlename - Surname in all caps in both top and the big box

Accented c in name: I tried copying from your post and pasting into a form and it worked. Type it in Word or copy from your post & paste

No middle name: I would do blank, or parentheses (none) (no middle name)

Parents need a state: Smalltown, TX, USA

Form submitted connection with: Same as yours both forms, but mine shows the whole thing. Must be a printer function. I have HP Laserjet. I think yours looks fine. Only part of the n is missing. Leave it like that.

For proviince, state of foreigner: I used Smalltown, Oxfordshire, UK for mine since they have areas of England, but if you don't have anything comparable, then N/A would work.

Nowhere on the form does it say to include a state; it says "Date, City, and Country of Birth" only, and even in sample forms for the U.S. citizen it hasn't included a state. Are you sure about this?

For the middle name, I'll be leaving it blank, by the way, I've decided.

Thanks for everyone's help so far.

No, I'm not sure. How can anybody be sure about any of this...even the person that put up the sample. It's only my opinion about the state, which I included, and nobody sent the petition back.

Take the city/town Franklin. It can be found in 37 different states. I don't think Franklin, USA tells enough, but who knows?

I think you've done a great job, so don't over-analyze and stress over it. Some of it is just your own best common sense and logic to make a decision. Get the thing mailed because every day you delay could let a couple hundred people in line ahead of you. Now that's more important than only half an "n" showing.

I was working on this form earlier tonight and had a few questions about it also, in the last five years i've had quite a few jobs and was wondering if I really do have to list them all..i saw some replies where people said to make sure to list them all, then other replies where people said that they left some of their jobs out of the form. I'd like to include just the few major jobs i've had that I kept for a year period or so, rather than the terrible jobs that you can't stand after a month and find something better. . ..?

Also my second question about this form is that for my form, their is a section that says Applicants last address outside of the united states of more than one year.

I've lived in one residence for about seven years, moved away for about six months, then moved back to my original address. So the first address would be the correct one to put into that space since the second address wasn't for a year period, but when it says From and To, i can't fill in that I've been there from 2000 to 2008 with no breaks in between the dates, since I did move away for that six month period.. but then there isn't really a space where you can place dates there that would show a gap for six months. sorry if this is confusing..can anyone explain what might be the best thing to fill in that section?

Lastly, i was wondering why they ask for your mother's maiden name on the form, if your parents are married and have the same last name do i still place my mother's maiden name on this form? She hasn't used it in thirty years, so i guess that part confused me too.

I looked at the example forms and tried to figure this stuff out, but just got very frustrated with it. I want to do everything 100% so i don't get an RFE sent back to me.

I think you too are over-analyzing. It's a judgement call for you. Pick the jobs you want that will fit, but don't leave gaps in time. Say unemployed if needed until you've covered 5 years. Or add an additional page to list every little job.

You lived in a foreign country at place #1, #2, and #3. If #3 was at least a year then that's the LAST place. It's not really asking about gaps to me. Or if 7 years at #1 was the only time more than a year, then put those 7 years. Or choose #1 to cover the whole range you were out of the country. It would give them the information they need and you could forget you lived somewhere temporarily. Another judgement/logic call for you to make. On both of those, decide what gives them a clear, true picture of you and what is extraneous.

Lastly, i was wondering why they ask for your mother's maiden name on the form, if your parents are married and have the same last name do i still place my mother's maiden name on this form? She hasn't used it in thirty years, so i guess that part confused me too.

Why? Because they can. They're the government. It's about your roots, your background... if they want to dig into your past on your mother's side. Just do as they ask. My mother hasn't used her maiden name for twice that long, but I listed it.

ok thanks, your reply really helped clear it up, but also made me realize that i think i may have misread the housing address for more than one year completely.

i read the question as - the address i have lived for more than one year but outside the country - the country being the united states. i'm the beneficiary in canada, so when filling out my G-325A as a canadian, i still thought i had to list my address in that section since i've been there one year AND it was outside of the united states.

i'm thinking now that since this form is for my information, i would apply that question as one asking if i've lived anywhere outside of canada for more than one year, which the answer is no so i would just leave that blank.

then when the petitioner fills it out, they take the same question but apply it as living at an address for more than one year outside of the united states, and in our case that question would also be left blank.

is this correct and was i reading that question wrong completely?

ahem, and by leaving the question blank what i really mean is typing in "None" where it says last outside the united states for more than one year for the petitioner

and for the beneficiary, since it's a canadian address, i would just type my home address in canada, since i double checked the form and it did say right on there "address outside of the united states for more than one year"

by jove, i think she's got it!

someone say 'yay' just to make sure she's got it?

  • 9 months later...

I have a question (or three) about addresses too.

Do they accept Rural Route Addresses

For example, my parents address (one of the places I lived in the last 5 years) is technically written like:

R. R. #0

Town, Province,

Canada

Would they accept that, or would they require the house number and road? It's out in the country, which makes them have a weird address with 5 digits in the house number, and a concession # for the road, and a township, and UGH.. yeah.. that weird stuff making it like 4-5 lines long. I'm not sure which address to put. The RR # is the mailing address, the rest is a 'physical address'... so I guess it'd be similar to a P.O. Box vs. physical address of the house.

Also, I know the main point is not to leave gaps in the time line, but there was a time where I couched surfed for a month and a 1/2, and stayed with a friend when i initially moved into a new town. Should I include that, or should I just extend one of my other addresses to fill in the time? Do they care and scrutinize that much? And do I need to include lease agreements to prove that I was at any of these addresses?

Also, in I have not lived anywhere for longer than one year in the last 9 years. Will this be a problem (other than having to remember/dig up 6 different addresses to put on the form.. LOL)? The last place I lived for more than one year was my parents house, which was from when I was 7 yrs old until I was 19. lol Otherwise, there are places that I have lived for ONE YEAR, but not MORE than one year. :( Can I use those if it's exactly a year? i.e. Sept 2007-Sept 2008 ?

Thanks in advance :)

The correct address is the correct address. Some people live where there are no house numbers. The address is what it is.

1. I would tend to use lower case, doubt it matters

2. United States of America or United States

3. Oblasts? Counties? It is the next lowest political subdivision from "country" If none, answer "none"

4. doesn't matter

5. one line

6. This site is correct, do not waste time with others. :)

7. Why not fill it in? Just to CYA for the accent mark

8. None

Next part

1. Yes, fill it by hand. And yes, fill it in the native alphabet. Why not?

2. "none" or "no middle name"

3. I-129f, at this stage it is NOT for a K-1 visa

4. If none, "none". If she has not been here before, she doesn't have one yet

Example:

1. From 2007 to present....123 Main St, Anytown USA

2. From 2006 to 2007...789 Maple st., hometown, USA

3. From 1970-2007...123 main st., anytown USA

 YAY!

I was working on this form earlier tonight and had a few questions about it also, in the last five years i've had quite a few jobs and was wondering if I really do have to list them all..i saw some replies where people said to make sure to list them all, then other replies where people said that they left some of their jobs out of the form. I'd like to include just the few major jobs i've had that I kept for a year period or so, rather than the terrible jobs that you can't stand after a month and find something better. . ..?
