"Just take care of your peepers and best wishes for a speedy recovery"

Naqishkaw.....June 21, 2008

So wrote Naqishkaw on that date when I wrote my first post as a new member here at Visa/Journey on June 20th.,

in which I mentioned being scheduled for eye-surgery very shortly thereafter. I find it only appropriate to begin this

post by commenting on how Naq`s comment deserves a very special thanks coming from a tired old heart, so here

goes Naq........THANKS A LOT

Being a mature sort of a six-pack type of guy, my sincerity compels me to admit just how terrified I was facing the

prospect of someone poking into my eyes with "scalpels"..`sic`, or so I thought. Actually, the procedure was so

simple and such a success (for someone who wore trifocals for many years) that my 20/20 original vision was given

back to me.

For many years, I stumbled through life with my left eye becoming overwhelmed and clogged by Cataracts that made

objects at arms length a frustrating challenge to see clearly. Trying to correct my vision (which I now question the

procedure used then) of prescribing a different lens for each eye because only my left was infected .... made matters

a lot worst. But all that is now history, and I will not dwell on it here, at least not now.

What I think is important is the fact that I packed my trifocals eye glasses in their respective case and stored them in

the bottom drawer of my dresser. I have not wore eye glasses from the moment that I stepped out the building that

houses the eye-specialist`s offices, where the surgery was performed

Arriving home after the afternoon surgery, a bit groggy and my left eye lid dropping a bit, the amazing clearness of

everything around me took me rather hard. I could see the faces of my family in the pictures that hang around the

walls in the living and bedrooms. It was this part that really hit me hard, because I had determined(mistakenly) that

I was destined to be another Magoo during the remainder of my years. To be able to see clearly family hair looms

such as pictures of my granddaughter in front of me is something that will forever stick out in my mind, when I had

given up all hope.

Habits die hard though. As I type this post, my brain long accustomed to adjust my eye glasses as they slide down

on my nose, subconsciously signals my hand to do just that.

I repeatedly catch my brain playing games with me. I constantly catch my hand half ways going for my eye-glasses.

But I do not wear glasses, I remind my brain.....And smile with satisfaction and would just love to continue playing

this game, if that is what my mind, which is now at ease, really wants.

I will have my second post-surgery follow-up tomorrow July 1st. I must leave you now to take my Meds, which

consist of three type of eye drops for my left eye. I put one drop of each type four time daily. This is the reason

that I stayed on the sidelines here at Visa/Journey since my first post. I am taking is slowly, and as my new

friend has advised, I am taking care of my peeprs.

And how have you all been doing. Share whatever has make you happy and vibrant, or whatever you think might

start a conversation with me. I would be happy to follow up on my first post.

PEACE!

Welcome back! I, for one was curious if you were going to come back and post or not. Im happy to learn that things are progressing with those peepers.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Thanks Naq. I lurked briefly from time to time to practice my eye sight. Of course I intend to post here more

often.

Somehow, like I said previously, I might bore you and the rest of the family, but glad to mention your thoughts of

me.

It is only that I am now into everything else, Man, the things that I missed are now at arms reach, clear and

just for the touching. It is really amazing. That saying that goes something like this...."Oh, that can never happen

to me" is one saying that I think is a bunch of horse manure.

It can happen. And I mean...getting your eye sight back. I even saw people waiting in the lobby who were actually

blind, looking for that miracle.

Perfect choice of employment raymaga. Am glad that I came to the right place to spread the word of the miracle

performed by those connected to your profession.

My story is quite dumbfounded to tell you the truth. I was totally "out" during the whole procedure, and although

I remember clearly walking in the building, I have difficulty even now, remember the ride back home.

But hey, I would love to do it again.

Glad you came by raymaga, and good luck.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

almaty, knowing that this is sort of a purgatory where I can be both judged and condemned, please define your

"putrid hawk" shot at my avatar.

And thanks for stopping by.

Well, almaty, not strike that. Holy sh.....t almaty! To choose a stinky dumb burro over a hawk as a side kick is

pretty interesting. Of course, like I said, here I will find everything that may well be connected to wacky world.

You have a very tasty choice of animal fondness i give you that. It is your right to love the burro and hate the

flying hawk or owl. This is nothing to feel sorry for almaty. I welcome your thoughts and I hope someone else

comes by and make a comment, one way or another.

I see you make the forum your living quarters. Take care almaty and don`t ever feel the need to apologize to me

for a comment you make.

However, for courtesy sake. define your putrid word usage so that I may understand it in the future.

No offense taken man.

Peace

What type of eye surgery did you have? I had laser eye sugery and it was scared out of my mind!

[/quote

Marlita, sorry for the delay in my response to your question. I was a bit tired and laid back in bed and just crashed,

and just woke up at 4:30 p.m. Tired at 1:30 p.m. when you wrote with your question. Sorry.

To tell you the truth Marlita. when I first was referred to the eye care-specialist and the removal of Cataracts from my

left was recommended, I too believed that the surgery would involved Laser procedure, but it didn`t and I learned

that until about three day before I went in for the surgery.

When I received the telephone call to inform me and remind me of the time to arrived at the surgical center I asked

the caller if the procedure would involve Laser. he said no. I asked what procedure would be used and she gave

me a name for it that I CANNOT remember. She explained that it was something more advanced and more simple

than laser.

Fear and anxiety never entered my mind, as you may have read about my mental anguish and frustration for the

past several years of fumbling around and tripping with my own feet due to my eye condition. All I could think of

was that things could not get any worst for me....As I have pointed out Marita, Miracle is the only way I could

describe the outcome of my surgery....But no, Marita it did not involve laser.

If you want, I can go back into Google, where I found the actual name of the procedure that was used in my case.

I might find the link and send it to you, if you need it. I hope, as I thought when I read the name in Google, that I

never, ever wanted to hear that word again, as long as I live.

Not because it had anything negative to do with the surgery itself, but rather, because I do not ever want to go

through the hell I endured all those years in Magoo-ish land.

Thank you for your comment Marita (MARLITA IN ALL PLACES THAT I MISSPELLED YOU NAME, SORRY!)

Hope that I answered your question

 No more seeing eye dogs!

I need glasses, but I still can't bring myself to admit I really should wear them. I just accept it as part of old age.... for now, anyway.

Nag, your comment cracked me up. I really thought about training my Chinese Shar pei as my eye dog for a while. I

also plotted about walking around with large blind man`s dark glasses asking for hand out to try to raise the amount

for eye surgery....Nah, just kidding here.

Well depending on what the word old age "is" to you, take it from one who can actually call himself very very old, if

you feel the need for eye care....Please act now. You might come back and thank me later.

I did not get back to you earlier because I had to take my beauty sleep and just fell out at 1:30 p.m. Good for you eye!

Thanks again for the comment

Nighthawk,

I have a German Shepherd Dog who I took in quite a few years back as he didn't pass the basic training part at the Leader Dog School for the Blind. ( Separation Anxiety ). But he is old now, too, so I dont know if he would be of any use to me in the future.

I had to knock off for a nap earlier, as well.

Yeah, I keep telling myself to go get my eyes checked, but with my kidney trouble, Im just sick of Doctor appointments. Im finding my big magnifying glass to be of great help.
