He also ascertains that parents are happier grocery shopping and even sleeping than spending time with their kids.

I'm happier sleeping than doing pretty much anything else

My son is almost 17 and my daughter is almost 10. I was incredibly young when I had my son (almost 19) and it is certainly not a life I would have chosen, nor would choose again. However, I have amazing kids. I really do. Am I happier with them than without? I can't answer that, because I _do_ have them. Having children isn't what ruined my marriage, it was a lot of other things like no trust, drugs, putting everything else before family, etc.

Even with my kids, I managed to put myself through college and grad school and tbh, my successes in life are a bit sweeter because I did it for myself and for my kids. They've seen a strong female role model, and they've seen me make mistakes too.

I never thought I'd want more kids, but the fact is that I'd love one or two more with P. If we have them, great, if we don't great.

But the fact is that though I love my children and I am enjoying watching them grow and become strong, independent people in their own rights, I think I would have been happy without them too. That is just the type of person that I am.

That isn't to say they don't drive me insane sometimes. Especially, as Jomo's girl said, since I have a teenager and a pre-teen.

But some people shouldn't have kids or aren't meant to have them. Just the way it is. My oldest sister has been married 25 years. Never wanted kids, never had 'em. What works for one couple won't work for another.

how the heck do ppl think a child can make a person happy the only person that can make you happy is yourself. You are the only person who can change how you feel.

If you always think negative you can make anything turn to #######, if your the happy go lucky kind of person ya sure everything will be good and happy.

Some ppl look at a baby as an expense, a poop machine that only cries and gets in the way on all the nice things that they want in life and think they cant have cause they say it would cost too much. Then you have some ppl who have a baby and feel that all the things or toys they wanted they can now share with the child as it grows.

See its all in the individuals how they make it. I have 4 kids and i'm happy, kids are an added joy to life.

Well thats just how i feel. lol

I would say my family as a whole makes me happy as opposed to my daughter herself or husband himself.

That said, my uterus is closed to further babymaking. Kids are way too expensive in terms of money, time, and nerves. I love my daughter, but no more, thanks.

I want to have kids even if I have to adopt.. I just feel that I was meant to be a mother and my hubby was meant to be a father...

it is not about having a kid to make me feel happy...

I'm not sure if happy is the right word for it....perhaps fulfilling. IMO, if someone is having a child to make themselves happy, they're setting themselves up for disappointment.

You hit the nail on the head!

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

no, kids can give you a purpose and bring joy...but happiness is internal ....

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Since when do you have kids to make yourself happy? You take PROZAC to make yourself happy. :P

So far, my 10 1/2 month old son has made me very happy. But we didn't have him to make us happy, we wanted children because we wanted a family.
