The guies say: "You do NOT usually need another medical exam after entry on the K-1 visa, in spite of what the directions

with the forms may tell you! Ignore the instructions regarding a medical exam after entry on a K-1 fiance

visa unless your local USCIS office advises you otherwise."

Does that mean we don't need to send the I-693 along with the AOS package?

Thanks!

If you had your medical exam prior to arriving here, AND your vaccinations are complete, you only need to submit the vaccination supplement DS-3025. If your vaccinations aren't complete, you need to get them and visit a civil surgeon that will update your vaccination info and fill out the I-693 for you (since May the new regulations in the instructions for form I-693 say that if you are a K-1 visa holder that had an exam overseas, the Civil Surgeon fills out the vaccination section of this form and the CS certification part)

I was wondering about this as well. My fiancee had her medical exam (for K1 visa) done back in April before the new regulations came out which added about 5 new viruses to be tested for including HPV. My fiancee still needs her last HPV shot done 2 months after she arrives here but I was wondering if that does not need to be sent in, giving that her exam was done before the change in rules?

I was also considering using the Texas doctor who has been quoted in previous posts since he is cheap and able to fill out Parts 1, 2 (vaccination supplement only) and sign Part 5 of the I-693, but if my fiancee must get the 3rd HPV shot, then I would have to do it locally.

I just don't want to wait 2 months after she arrives to file for AOS if at all possible. Any thoughts?

Did your fiance get the HPV voluntarily? Or was she told by a doctor to get them done? I had my medical done in February in Ireland, and since the regulations say that your medical is valid for one year they (USCIS) must have a way to deal with this. The immigration regulations are changing all the time. I was following the regulations that were in effect back then (in February), so I didn't worry about the new ways of testing that came out 3 months after :-))).

From my understanding you do not need to have the whole sequence of vaccinations completed before applying for the AOS, so even if you still need another booster or two to complete a sequence, you have complied with the requirements of the AOS medical. Go ahead and file the AOS.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Thank you for your input. My understanding was that the doctor recommended her to take them and I can't see that they were required before the rule changes because they were not in the old I-693, only the new.

If it is sufficient for her to only start the shot sequence, would USCIS want verificaiton that she completed it, seeing as how it is part of the new requirements or it doesn't matter because the rules changed after she got the medical done?

Sorry again. I didn't keep a copy of the medical exam in Spain and the clinic didn't tell me anything either. Then they kept all the docs at the port of entry (exept for the x-ray).

I brought my vaccinations card from home.

So if I understood correctly, I should touch base with a civil surgeon and ONLY get the vaccination part from them, right?

Thank you again for your patience and help!

Yes, In addition if your vaccination card is not in English then you probably will need to provide the CS with an English translation.

YMMV

I have read this through posts here as well but not on any USCIS document.

The closest I have seen is from the I-693 instructions that state "If you initially did not have documents proving you received all the required vaccines but later submit those documents, or if the civil surgeon certifies that it is not medically appropriate for you to have one or more of the missing vaccine(s), USCIS may grant you a waiver based on the civil surgeon's certification on the vaccination supplement."

Even this, however, doesn't mention if the sequence of vaccines administered was started, but not completed. It sounds that it is up to the civil surgeon you visit to let you apply or not with better peace of mind of not receiving a RFE.

On the USCIS website, they say this:

# Form I-693 Medical Examination Sheet (not required if you are applying based on continuous residence since before 1972, or if you have had a medical exam based on a fiancé visa)

It was on this page

07/31/08 Entry in USA with K1 visa

05/15/09 Conditional green card received

05/10/11 Permanent green card received

07/28/12 Started naturalization process

I still don't see how that relates to the question of if the I-693 or the DS-2035 could be filed immeadiately with AOS before the sequence of vaccinations has been completed. That seems to contradict the updated instructions in the I-693 on the USCIS website which states that although another medical is unnecssary if completed within 1 year of AOS for a K1 applicant, Parts 1 2 (vaccination supplement only) and 5 must be completed from the I-693. As far as I know the I-693A supplement is no longer applicable.

Well, my post answered the original post of this thread.

If the sequence of vaccinations hasn't been completed, I have no idea. And yes, it contradicts what they say in the I-693, so I don't know what the best thing to do is.
